Alright' date=' I have decided upon the themes for this week's contest.

Themes For July 8~11

Easy - Construct a Batteryman OTK deck. I'll be looking for the most efficient variation.

Medium - I want to see a Monarch deck of any kind. However, at least one copy of each available Monarch (that's right, all 7) must be present in the deck. Lol, yeah, that's crazy. Craptacular Granmarg FTW!!!

Hard - Show me a FTK deck. The following conditions apply:

- Deck must have some kind of instant-win strategy.

- This deck may be constructed with the use of the Traditional Format list; however, if you do this, the Difficulty Bonus points you receive will only be out of 12.5 instead of 15. Sticking to the advanced format will award you the normal 15.

- Try to post a deck we HAVEN'T all seen a million times before - you'll get more points.

A little message - I noticed that on the last contest, everyone went for the Avian deck.

Let me reiterate a point - you can select ANY of the three themes, not just the one everyone else selects. I would advise choosing more carefully as well; it was pretty obvious that a lot of you just wanted the extra points, and I ended up getting some crappy decks. Please choose the difficulty level most appropriate for you - don't base your selection on which gives the most points.

Now then, all interested entrants may now reserve and post. Decks are due by the 11th, and the winner will be announced on the 12th. Also, if anyone wishes to help me judge this week, say so now.

Taking either easy or hard on this one (I got a batteryman deck so it will be easy. Got a good idea for an FTK since we can use traditional)

Sorry everyone! It took me a little longer to get home than I had originally thought! Anyway' date=' I have performed the acts of judging, and it is time for me to announce the winner.

First, the individual ratings:

[PikaPerson01[/b'] - Nice idea, but too little focus on Avian. I like the Feather Wind support, and also utilizing him for Common Charity though. Extra points for being a deck that looks like it actually could win.

Creativity - 8/10

Effectiveness - 10/10

Effort - 7/10

Bonus: 15/15

Total Score - 36.5/35

Jman09 - This deck does not have near enough focus on Avian. You included the necessary three copies as well as a couple Feather Winds, but overall, this looks like a Judai Yuki character deck, with too much general E-Hero focus as well as Winged Kuriboh.

Creativity - 5/10

Effectiveness - 5/10

Effort - 4/10

Bonus: 0/15

Total Score - 14/35

XanderTheGreat - The deck doesn't have enough Avian focus. I see a Hunter Owl Win condition, which doesn't really help either.

Creativity - 5/10 You had a nice idea, but points off for losing the theme.

Effectiveness - 7/10

Effort - 5/10 doesn't seem like you tried too hard to find a good use for Avian.

Bonus: 0/15 Difficulty Bonus points are all or nothing.

Total - 17/35

.:pyramid:. - Nice Avian deck. I see focus, which is good, and I see actual duel possibility. Hero Mask + Feather Shot can work nicely. Not competitive really, but what Avian deck is? Good job.

Creativity - 9/10 Nice idea.

Effectiveness - 7/10 Not perfect, but looks like it is at least capable of winning.

Effort - 8/10 Looks like you thought this out.

Bonus: 15/15

Total - 39/35

Skuldur - I like. Once again, focus stayed with Avian. Also, I see the Hero Mask + Feather Shot combo here as well. Looks capable, and gets a few extra points for having Avian as the main (if only) win condition.

Creativity - 9/10

Effectiveness - 6.5 A little tougher to win with this than Pyramid's deck.

Effort - 8/10

Bonus: 15/15

Total - 38.5/35

cheeselord - A tad disappointed. Not near enough focus on Avian, though you did use the suggested demotion. Also, by your own admission, it took you 5 minutes to come up with, and it kinda shows. =/ Gonna hurt your effort.

Creativity - 6/10 I'd give it 5, but you got an extra point for including Avian in a Law Deck.

Effectiveness - 6/10 It doesn't look as sturdy as a Law Deck can be.

Effort - 4/10

Bonus: 0/15 Sorry, just tossing Avian in is not the same as using an Avian theme.

Total - 16/35 Cheesey, I never thought I'd rate one of your decks so low .___.;;

X-L YEAHHHH!!! - Hmmm...well, I see avian support, but not too much. it's more of an Avian Fusion Deck....with Ojamas.

Creativity - 6/10 Ehhhh...

Effectiveness - 5/10 Doesn't really look very win-capable.

Effort - 5/10 For trying?

Bonus: 0/15 I can't give you the bonus, not enough Avian-ness.

Total - 16/35

FrostPwnage - Sigh...this deck does not follow the theme at all. Avian's only use here is fodder for Simorgh or Dark Simorgh. There is no support for him, and definitely no focus on him.

I'm afraid I have to administer an Entry Disqualification for not even attempting to be an Avian Deck.

Total - 0/35

Doom Wraith - Sorry, but the rule DID apply to the Fusion Deck, as mentioned earlier.

^^; Hate to do this to ya, but Entry is Disqualified.

Total - 0/35

So, after judging all entries, it has been decided! The winner of this week's competition is .:pyramid:.! Congratulations. Your reps and points will be arriving shortly.

So, after judging all entries, it has been decided! The winner of this week's competition is .:pyramid:.

The competition for this week will be announced later this evening.

The deck that has the best chance of winning should have the highest score for effectiveness.

Pfft. :/

Sort of.. I tried, and its not the easiest thing to make because The Original Levia is a 7 Star >.< Ideally, it would have Demise/Norleras instead of the original Levia, but its THEMED, so this is the funtastic version.

3x Levia Dragon - Daedalus

3x Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo Daedalus

2x Warrior Of Atlantis

3x Phantom Of Chaos

1x Dark Magician Of Chaos

1x Disc Commander

3x A Legendary Ocean

3x Reasoning

3x Trade In

3x Monster Gate

2x Vortex

2x Feather of The Phoenix

Heavy Storm

Giant Trunade

Premature Burial

Monster Reborn

2x Magical Stone Excavation

2x Limit Reversal

1x Gravity Bind

3x Waboku

Still questioning how many warrior to run, I don't want to hit them with Reasoning, so two? Meh, I'll leave it at two. Reasoning mills ODL-ND --> PoC or summons LV-Daedalus, cards get back ALO, constant blowing up of field initiates, SS with Prem, Limit, MR, Get GG.

Lulz can me made about the deck if you absolutely must.

Also, give them 10 points for trad. Trad is easy.

^^ Static, please do not double-post.

Also, I understand you're reasoning that the most effective deck should have a good chance at winning, but bear in mind that that WAS supposed to be an Avian deck - just because it was effective doesn't mean it followed the theme very well, which was a part of the contest.

Ok then, Saturday is here, so it is now time to rate the decks for the week. This post technically counts as a bump, so the double-post should be ignored.

Now then, on toward the rates/award.

GoldshineDragon

Deck: All Monarch (Medium)

Creativity: 5.5/10

Effectiveness: 8/10

Effort: 7/10

Bonus: 10/10

Creativity was knocked down a bit - this does seem to be the same tried and tested build I've seen a million times with a few extra monarchs added. Effectiveness would have been 7, were this rating by real-world standards, but considering the nature of the contest forced you to add unnecessary cards, I added a point. Effort is a C+ - this is again because of the recycled build, but I can see you at least tried to make room for the extra Monarchs. Since you stayed dedicated to your selected theme, you were awarded the full 10 points.

Total: 30.5/35

Chris427

Deck: Batteryman (Easy)

Creativeness: 8/10*

Effectiveness: 9/10

Effort: 8/10

Bonus: 5/5

*By rights, creativity should be 7 for all the tons of Batteryman builds out there, but this is a different variant than what I've seen, and for the purposes of this competition, I'm being lenient. The 9 for effectiveness is genuine - the deck looks very much like it can take down another deck, and very successfully. I give you a high effort grade since you clearly tried to ensure your deck's individuality (as far as that goes for Batteries). Theme dedication earned you the easy bonus.

Total: 30/35

FrostyPwnage

Deck: All Monarch (Medium)

Creativity: 7/10

Effectiveness: 7/10

Effort: 7/10

Bonus: 10/10

Straight sevens! Apprentice Monarch is a bit underused compared to other monarch builds, so that got you some points for creativity (managing to shove Granmarg into anything is usually something to at least look at), note however that it was also knocked down a tad for the same previously stated reasons (not really a "new" build). It looks a tad unstable however, so it loses some points in effectiveness. The effort is there, but to some great degree. You get the bonus for using the theme correctly.

Total: 31/30

Cheeselord

Deck: All Monarch (Medium)

Creativity: 8/10

Effectiveness: 7.5/10

Effort: 5/10

Bonus: 10/10

I gave you that starting 8 simply because this was the first Kurazey MM deck on YCM that really, really worked. It would have gotten 9, except I see very little change aside from the additional monarchs (hey, can ya blame me? A judge has got to judge). The effectiveness still looks decent, but because there is so little change aside from more monarchs, I can't help but feel the deck gets weighed down now, and weakened. The score would have gone up if I saw some additional methods of counteracting the monarch-heavyness. I'm sure you can understand the effort grade - it's almost a copy of your original deck. You obviously get the bonus.

Total: 30.5/35

.:pyramid:.

Deck: OTK/FTK (Hard)

Creativeness: 6/10

Effectiveness: 8/10

Effort: 8/10

Bonus: 15/15

Good job. Creativity took a blow because of the similarity with other Magical Explosion O/FTK decks. The effectiveness is nice, but slightly luck-reliant. It could get a 9 if changes were made to make it almost a sure-thing. You definitely tried, so take your 8 with glee. Good FTK idea receives the full Bonus (especially since you kept to the advanced list).

Total: 37/35

XanderTheGreat

Deck: All Monarch (Medium)

Creativity: 10/10

Effectiveness: 8/10

Effort: 9/10

Bonus: 10/10

Very nice - you got full points where creativity is concerned simply because it's a nice departure from what I've been seeing for the last few weeks, and is pretty original. Looks workable too, though stability and flow are slightly off (maybe I'm just being picky). Effort is definitely at an up. Full Bonus points awarded.

Total: 37/35

Static

Deck: OTK/FTK (hard)

Creativity: 9/10

Effectiveness: 8/10

Effort: 7.5/10

Bonus: 15/15

Creative idea, and I haven't seen a lot of Daedalus instant-kill decks. The ones I have seen were more on the side of take-a-few-turns, not OTK. It looks stable, but can slip up (as you stated with the Atlantis thing). You put a good amount of effort into it (boy am I tired of saying that). Full bonus for using the advanced format.

Total: 39.5/35

Judging completed! With the highest total score of 39.5, Static is this week's winner! You shall receive your points and reps immediately.

Also, to JoC, since I plan on keeping this contest running consistently (and I seem to be getting a good amount of entrants thus far), could you make this a sticky? It would catch more attention and get even more entrants than it already gets that way. Please let me know.

The next contest will be announced on Tuesday. Thank you to all participants!

o.o Holy crap, did I miss yours? My apologies!

*checks* Oh my god, I did. T___T So sorry, I was extremely tired last night.

Here, I'll give it a review.

jamief

Deck: All Monarch (Medium)

Creativity: 8/10

Effectiveness: 6/10

Effort: 8/10

Bonus: 10/10

Alright, I'll give you an 7.5 in creativity - it looks to me like a Monarch/Stall deck, and you've got spies for multiplying and tributing, so I guess this is a creative build. At the same time though, it isn't too difficult to get around a lot of this - I would guess the deck's win percentage wouldn't be too high. I'll give you a good effort grade for trying (and again, sorry I missed it the first time!), and theme dedication has earned you your bonus points.

Total: 32/35

why didnt my deck get judged!

you seem to be only judging the good players decks' date='

I'm sorry if you feel that way, but thus far you're the only player I missed - and that was an accident.

DO NOT tell me not to double post if you plan on double posting right after I do. Hypocrisy is unacceptable.

If the creativity was bad, take off points from that, the effectiveness has nothing to do with how much he stuck with the theme, so it shouldn't be judged by that. Thats all I'm saying.

-_- My "double-post" was a bump. It had been more than 24 hours since the previous post, thereby making it a BUMP and not a double. Yours was simply a double - there was no reason you couldn't have just edited the first post. In my case, a bump was necessary to take the thread off of page 2, where an edited post wouldn't have been noticed. Understand?

And I already told you - the effectiveness didn't get marked down for not sticking to the theme. Your original argument was that the most effective deck should win. I simply stated that the net total determines the winner. I don't mark down effectiveness based on theme dedication. I mark down Effort and Creativity for doing that.

Avian Deck' date=' huh?

Sounds interesting for my first entry...

I accept!

QQ: If I have a fusion monster with a higher ATK than Avian, can I run more than 2?

^^; That's long past. The contest is changed weekly, you see. This week's contest will be posted tomorrow.

My apologies people. My time online this week has been limited, and I decided to cancel the contest this week simply due to the fact that I won't be able to be on too much till Saturday (with the exception of last night, but even then I was only on after midnight my time).

Sorry, I guess I totally spaced on notifying you all - again, my apologies. You see, my older brother has been doing this film thing for his college all week, and all of his friends have been using the computer almost constantly. -__- Anyway, the contest will start again On Saturday (when I can have free time online again), I assure you.
