J-Max Posted July 13, 2008 Report Share Posted July 13, 2008 It all depends on the amount of contact with the bird. Gently putting it back in its nest will not affect it. But being near it and Mummy bird suddenly appearing will often result in the Mum fleeing in terror and THEN the Chick will be abandoned. Once I saw a chick on the ground and gently put it back in its nest. Then I had some lunch and suddenly the Mum bird came back.
