Chronicle 1: The End of Life

*Remains of Alyrion - August 1, 2010*

There wasn't much remaining. Only piles of stone and ashes that used to make up the city of Alyrion. After the battle had ended, almost everyone in the city, over 2,000,000 people, laid dead on the ground, covered in blood and ash. The brave soldiers and people of the city that went out to defend their city had all been killed by the explosion. Well, most of them anyway. It seemed that another person had survived. It wasn't just the Shadow King, there was another.

It was difficult to see the figure, as he lay on the ground covered in ash, but it was noticeable that he had blue hair. His hair seemeed to be short, and spiked in the front. His arms and legs were covered in blood, but for some reason the duel disk he was wearing on his arm seemed to be spotless, as if it had been protected by some type of magical force. The Shadow King couldn't tell that the boy was alive, but he was. Even though he was barely alive, he was still alive, and that was all that mattered. He had lost everything except his Deck. There was no more family, just piles of ash, and the scattered remains of people that had been killed by the explosion. He gently raised his head and gave a fierce stare to the Shadow King.

His friends, his family, and thousands of other innocent people were killed, and the man that was responsible for it seemed to show no regret. The battle had ended in what some might call a tie. The Shadow King's army and the army of people from the city that had fought had all been killed. The King assumed that he had emerged victorius, but he hadn't realized that one boy had managed to survive.

The Shadow King was wearing a purple cloak, and underneath the cloak was a black shirt and a pair of black pants. He was also wearing a pair of black leather boots. The boy, while his shirt had been torn, and his pants were covered in blood, was wearing a white t-shirt a pair of blue swishy pants, and white and red sneakers. The King's duel disk was purple, and it had a red outline, as if it was covered in blood.

The boy's disk was white, and it was covered in blood, giving it a simliar outline like that of the King's duel disk. It was only 2 days ago that the King and his army had arrived in the city of Alryion, and yet over two million people were dead. Sure, there were other people in different parts of the world, but Alyrion was one of the largest cities in the entire world, it was the center of Europe, and home to some of the world's best duelists.

He couldn't help but think about those people that went into battle. This wasn't a war played with cards. This was a war fought with shadow powers and swords; pretty much anything people could use as a weapon was used as a weapon. Most of the people from Alyrion that went into battle weren't warriors, and they had no idea how to fight in a real war, but they did what they felt was right for their city, and they all died for it. Just think about that; all they tried to do was save their city and they were all killed without a second thought.

Well, it wasn't like he'd be able to live much longer anyway, so he figured he might as well finish the war once and for all. There were two enemies; one on each side of the battle field. Those enemies were the Shadow King and himself. People would probably be telling him to rest, and that if he would die. What did it matter? There wasn't a reason to live anymore. Life was basically over for him. However, he wouldn't let the sacrifices and bravery of the people of Alyrion go in vain.

Ignoring the immense pain that he felt, he stood up and brushed the ashes off of him. Suddenly the King's eyes widened in complete shock.

-It's impossible, all of you were killed!

There was no emotion on his face; he just continued to stare at the King.

-All but one of us. Your explosion didn't kill me, and although I'll die soon enough, I've still got enough strength left to avenge the people of Alyrion.

The King stood; trembling with fear because of the boy's ability to stand up and fight after an explosion that should have been the end of him.

-Do you truly think that you have the ability to duel me and win?

-It doesn't matter if I have the ability to duel you and win. All that matters is that I'm alive, and I am going to avenge the people that gave their lives for this city. My name is Airos Ratiyo, and on this day, I shall rid the world of the Shadow King!

Many battles are fought between good and evil, and usually the good manages to prevail. Even when you think all is lost, you can find that there is still a reason to fight.

*Stonehenge - August 1, 2008*

A cloaked figure, carrying nine cards, walked to the center of Stonehenge. There was a stone table in the center of Stonehenge, and it had nine square slots. The cloaked figure placed each card in its own slot.

The cards were as follows, from the first card to the ninth card.

-Obelisk the Tormentor - The Winged Dragon of Ra - Slifer the Sky Dragon-

-Raviel, Lord of Phantasms - Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder - Uria, Lord of Searing Flames-

-The Wicked Dreadroot - The Wicked Avatar - The Wicked Eraser -

It was almost as if you could hear the creatures inside the cards calling out to the people of Earth.

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

I've learned a lot, and I wanted to start a new Fan-Fic so that I could put what I've learned to use.

Anyway, I'll be sure to add another Chronicle soon.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rise of Legend

Chronicle 2: How it all Began

Nothing is perfect, except for god himself, if you believe in god that is, and Alyrion was no exception. It was full of people, some nice, some mean, but it was a nice place to live. There was the occasional fight, but overall, it wasn't a nice place. That's how Airos looked at it. He didn't mind living in Alyrion. He had his family, his friends, and his Deck. As long as he had those things, life was alright for him.

As Airos sat on a bench in Cyclone Park, one of the most common hangout spots in Alyrion, he noticed a crowd of people gathering in the middle of the street.

-Huh? I wonder what's goin on.

The crowd of people were surrounding a man, who looked to be in his twenties. He was wearing a black shirt with some sort of silver vest over it. He had a duel disk on, so it was obvious that he was a duelist. Instantly, Airos recognized him as Seto Kaiba, the owner of KaibaCorp.

-What in the world is Seto Kaiba doing in Alyrion?

People in the crowd began to talk; trying to ask Seto questions.

-Hey! Hey Seto! Can I get your autograph?

-Do you have your famous Blue Eyes White Dragon cards with you?!

-Want to duel me?!

Things like that; it wasn't really surprising. It was the same with any celebrity. Fans would go crazy as if the celebrity was actually an important person. To Airos, all celebrities were the same; people with a lot of money that thought they were better than everyone else. He didn't like celebrities, although he did like to watch movies sometimes. It was a little weird that one of the most famous duelists, Seto Kaiba, was in Alyrion, because he was the owner of a billion dollar company, and Alyrion was a city on a different continent that the continent Seto lived on. If Seto traveled to another continent, there had to be a good reason for it.

A man in a black suit stepped out of a limo, and walked up to Seto. He tried to shake Seto's hand, but Seto refused.

-I'm not here to be make new friends. I'm here because you told me you had valuable information regarding Stonehenge.

The man let loose a high-pitched laugh.

-That I did boy, that I did. However, I've decided that I'm not just going to give you this information for free.

-Name your price. I'll pay whatever you need. I've got things to do, and I don't want to spend my time having a conversation with you.

-Ah, impatient are we? No matter, I'll get to the point. I'm not looking for money; I'm looking for your Blue Eyes White Dragon cards.

-My Blue Eyes cards?!

-Yes. All three of them.

Again came the high-pitched laugh.

-Sorry, but no information is worth my Blue Eyes White Dragons.

The smile that rested on the man's face turned into a look of disappointment.

-Well, if you refuse to give me the cards, I'll just have to duel you for them. If you can defeat me in a duel, I'll tell you the information that you're looking for. However, if you lose, those dragons become mine.

Seto looked hesitant; he was confident in his ability to win, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to take the risk of losing his prized cards.

-What's it going to be Seto?

Airos couldn't hear what they were saying, but something about the conversation and the way they were acting gave Airos a hint that they were going to duel. Meh, he hadn't seen Seto Kaiba duel in a while, so he figured he might as well stay and watch. It was a Friday afternoon, and he had nothing better to do.

-Fine, I'll duel you. If you think for one second that you're going to win, you've got another thing coming!

-We'll see.

-DUEL!

-Well Seto, since your the guest, why don't you make the first move?

-Heh, fine. I'll start with White of Legend [300/250] in Attack Mode!

A small section of the road began to rise up in a triangular form and a crystal emerged from it.

Airos was a bit surprised at the crystal creature.

-White of Legend? I've never heard of that card before.

-No offense Seto, but I'd expect a better move from you. Why would you play such a weak monster in Attack Mode?

-Why don't you let me handle my moves, and you just handle your own moves?

-Arrogant fool. He doesn't realize that he's no match for me. If you insist.

-Thank you. Now then, where was I? Oh yeah, I'll place two cards face-down. Your move.

-Let's see now. I'll begin by playing Machiners Soldier [1600/1500] in Attack Mode.

A green robot with a sword on its right arm where its hand would normally be appeared on the field.

-When my Soldier is Normal Summoned, I can give him some backup. So I'll play Machiners Sniper [1800/800] in Attack Mode.

A robot, colored a lighter shade of green than the soldier and holding a large sniper rifle in its right hand, appeared on the field.

-Let's get this party started. Machiners Soldier, take out his White of Legend with Mech Slash!

The dark green robot leapt in the air and slashed the crystal in half. Seto smiled as the crystal exploded into pixels.

-Huh? Why are you smiling?

-It's simple. When my White of Legend is sent to the Graveyard, I can add a Blue Eyes White Dragon [3000/2500] from my Deck to my hand.

-Well, as long as it's in your hand, I'm not worried about it. As a matter of fact, if anyone should be worried, it's you. Allow my Machiners Sniper to show you why! Attack him directly with Mech Bullet!

The light green robot fired a bullet from its sniper rifle.

-I don't think so. I play Blue Eyes Barrier! With this, I can discard a Blue Eyes White Dragon to negate your attack, and since it's a Continuous Trap, I can use its effect more than once.

-Fine, you got lucky this turn. I'll end with a face-down.

-Luck had nothing to do with it. You see, I'm not some loser duelist that you can defeat without a problem. There aren't many people that can defeat me.

Surprisingly, Airos was actually enjoying the duel. He had never heard of the Machiners monsters, but he thought they were interesting, and he definitely wanted to see more of them.

-You won't defeat me Seto. The Blue Eyes White Dragon cards will be mine.

-Tell that to my Vorse Raider [1900/1200]!

A green, beast-like creature wielding a spear with one blade at each end appeared on the field.

-Vorse Raider, attack his Machiners Soldier with Shattering Slash!

-Sorry to disappoint you, but thanks to my Machiners Sniper's Special Ability, you can't attack any of my Machiners monsters except for the Sniper himself.

-Whatever, I'll take out your Sniper first! Vorse Raider, attack the Sniper! Shattering Slash!

Vorse Raider swung its spear at the Sniper, causing it to explode into pixels.

Man in Suit's Life Points - 3900

Seto's Life Points - 4000

-That's all for now. Your turn.

-Hehe..I'll Set a monster face-down, change my Soldier to Defense Mode, and end my turn.

-Playing defensive already? It's not surprising. Whatever, I'll Summon Kaibaman [200/700] in Attack Mode.

A creature, looking a lot like a human and wearing armor and a helmet that resembled Blue Eyes White Dragon, appeared on the field.

-Thanks to my Kaibaman's Special Ability, I can Tribute it to Special Summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon [3000/2500] from my hand!

The human-like creature vanished, and a large blue dragon appeared in its place. The dragon roared loudly.

-If it isn't your most prized card.

-Not only is it my most prized card; it's also my strongest card. I'll let you find out for yourself just how strong it really is! Blue Eyes, attack his face-down monster with White Lightning!

The card flipped up, revealing a blue robot with cannons on each side of it.

-Thank you for attacking my Machiners Defender [1200/1800]. You see, since you attacked my Defender, I'm allowed to add Commander Covington [1000/600] from my Deck to my hand!

-Commander Covington?! I've heard of that card before. It has the ability to create a Machine monster with incredible power! I've heard that the monster Covington creates has more powerful than my Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon! This can't be good!

Charlie Morae's Official Rating

First Impression

You surely have an epic storyline coming, although I feel that you pretty much spoiled an ending with that opening. Unless that was some sort of "this is what will happen if you fail" thingamabob.

Spelling & Grammar

No real things, really. Some grammar issues.

Descriptions

If anyone showed me this six months ago and told me that you had written it, I wouldn't believe them. Simply awesome.

One-Word Summary

Competition?

Personal Opinion

The only thing that drags this fanfic into the dust is the word choice and the structure. Sometimes, the flow is just ruined due to bad sentence construction.

Rating

8/10.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rise of Legends

Chronicle 3: The Ultimate Machiner!

-Speechless? I can't really say I'm surprised. Although it is nice to see the famous Seto Kaiba in awe at the amazing power of my Deck.

-I'm not in awe of anything. I'll take your Commander down! At least I hope so.

-Ah, so sure of yourself? Let's see how sure you are after you meet my Commander's creation!

-Argh...He's going to Summon that ultimate Machine.

-Are you quite finished, Mr. Kaiba?

-Yeah..go ahead.

-Let's not waste any time! I Summon Commander Covington [1000/600]!

A red robot with what looked like a white tie on its chest appeared on the field.

-Now of course, my Commander can't create anything without all three of my Machiners on the field, so I'll have to bring the others back. I play the Spell Card Machiners Reinforcement! Now, as long as I control Commander Covington, I can Special Summon 2 Machiners from my Graveyard. So say hello to my Machiners Sniper [1800/800] and my Machiners Defender [1200/1800]!

The light green robot with the sniper rifle and the blue robot with the cannons appeared next to the red robot.

Airos watched the duel, interested to see what creation the man was talking about.

The crowd of people was still surrounding Seto; anxious to see if he could win the duel.

-Now I'll activate the effect of my Commander!

The dark green robot, the light green robot, and the blue robot's bodies came apart, and the body parts from all three robots combined to form a large green robot with blue cannons, a sword behind its right leg, and a sniper rifle in its hands.

-By Tributing all three of my Machiners, I was able to Summon Machiners Force [4600/4100]!

Seto looked up at the giant robot in disbelief.

-That thing is incredible!

People in the crowd began talking to each other again.

-Look at that thing!

-There's no way Seto can take that thing down!

-It's incredibly powerful!

-This duel's gonna be over soon!

Airos laughed to himself as he sat on the bench. It was amazing how one minute people could be rooting for someone, then as soon as that person began to lose, they started rooting for someone else.

-So, are you impressed Seto?

-I've gotta admit, that's a powerful creature, but I can take it down! You won't get my Blue Eyes White Dragons!

-I'm interested to see you try. I think I'll have my Machiners Force attack your Vorse Raider. However, I do have to pay 1000 Life Points first.

Man in Suit's Life Points: 2900

Seto's Life Points: 4000

-Now, Machiners Force, attack his Vorse Raider with Obliteration Cannon!

The large robot fired beams of energy out of its cannons, destroying the green beast-like creature.

Main in Suit's Life Points: 2900

Seto's Life Points: 1300

-This game's not finished just yet. I play my Trap Card, Blue Eyes Soul! With this, when a Normal Monster I control is destroyed by battle, I can Special Summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon [3000/2500] from my Graveyard!

Another large blue dragon appeared on the field.

-Still fighting, eh? The amazing Seto Kaiba is about to lose his Blue Eyes White Dragons! You should have agreed to my deal. At least you would have the information you wanted.

-I've got one chance. If the next card I draw is a Blue Eyes, I might be able to turn this duel around. I'm not giving up!

-How nice. I'll end my turn.

Seto slowly drew a card from his Deck.

-Well whatt'ya know? I got the card I needed. It's about time I ended this duel! I activate the Spell Card Blue Eyes Spirit! With this, I can send 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons from my hand or my side of the field to the Graveyard and Special Summon a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon [4500/3800] from my Extra Deck!

The two dragons that were on the field vanished, and a large, blue dragon with three heads appeared in their place.

-Sorry to break it to you, but your dragon doesn't have enough attack points to take down my Machiners Force!

The man laughed.

-I know that. However, thanks to Blue Eyes Spirit, my dragon is protected from any of your Trap Cards during this turn. Next, I'll equip my dragon with the Spell Card Megamorph!

-Megamorph?!

-You heard me. Now, my dragon's attack increases to 9000! Attack his Machiners Force with Neutron Blast!

Each head fired a beam of energy at the robot, destroying it.

Man in Suit's Life Points: 0

Seto's Life Points: 1300

-I can't believe it! That punk beat me.

-Now, tell me what you know about Stonehenge.

Well, nothing that bad to say about it. And it seems pretty good. the Ibtro was simply superb, the only thing i might ask to add is a bit of feeling into what people say. Like gritting teeth, stated, coldly replied. Instead of that impersonal dash...

Of course, it's just a suggestion.

Aside from that, it's amazing to see how Kaiba's deck has changed, with the new Blue Eyes support cards you created. And for how it beat Machiner's Force. I'm just glad it WORKED this time (unlike the movie, Kaiba so deserved to win)
