ragnarok1945
are you sure that'll be bright enough?
The_Prince_of_Death
they never are bright enough when they need to be, but we can always down grade back to using fire if need be.
ragnarok1945
that's not tech evolution though
The_Prince_of_Death
who says we have to up grade, when down grading is sometimes the best way to go. I need to stop debating for a while to make an RP for a club im in because everyone is talking about wanting to join it if its made.
ragnarok1945
that's only Vista to XP
The_Prince_of_Death
it works for the shows "Survivor" and "Man Vs. Wild". you sometimes have to down grade from technology to live(basic prinsaple of life - "eat to live not live to eat" and "try to survive at all costs when you are in the wild". ragnarok1945
well why would we want to downgrade in this case?
The_Prince_of_Death
if we have to we can slow down the use of technology. we can walk/ride a bike to our destination to slow down polution (unless it involves going over seas).
ragnarok1945
unfortunately I don't see the human race ever going to accept it's time to slow down development (until it backfires on them)
The_Prince_of_Death
it only depends on the people's choise to evolve or to stay. some people have already stopped using most of their tech because it will only lead to more problems in the future. ragnarok1945
and in return developed new tech in the process
The_Prince_of_Death
possibly. I'm not completly sure what they do.
ragnarok1945
Look no one is ever going to consider going backwards in technology, and that will apply to energy usage as well
The_Prince_of_Death
if we go to the point where we only use the rerigerator and microwave then we will be fine.
ragnarok1945
oh really? This is the information age, you take away the computer you might as well knock us back to the stone age
The_Prince_of_Death
thats the point in a way. i we go back to that era, the only fuel source that we used was wood to make fire which in turn made heat and light.
ragnarok1945
even in that era people saw the need for technological evolution
PrometheusMFD
I vote for Nuclear Power and then Fusion when we can develope a material dense and heat-resistant enough to contain a small sun!
The_Prince_of_Death
the problem is how do we start the sun? its imposible to create a real minature sun (we dont have the tech to do it)
ragnarok1945
I'm not sure you need to start it in the first place, it's always on. But yes, no material we have can contain that kind of heat

ragnarok1945
why only half of the sun's heat?
The_Prince_of_Death
Yes we can make a metal that can hold half the sun's heat, but only for so long (I'm not exactly sure how long though).
ragnarok1945
personally we'd need for it to hold the heat for at least 12 hours.
PrometheusMFD
But Fusion creates a miniture sun. Just becuase it is smaller, doesn't mean it is any less powerfull. We need the ability to contain a human-sized sun indefinitely in order for fusion to be a resource. But if we could, every other form of energy would be horribly obselete! (1 lb of any material could power every city on Earth for a year)
