Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
In this format, the "banlist" is really the "unique list". A player would build with cards not on the unique list, but could choose one card from the unique list and add one copy of that card to their Deck. For example, you could run 1 Pot of Greed OR 1 Call of the Haunted, but not both. The question: What is a good "unique list" for this format?[spoiler=Unique List So Far]Unique Format – September 20, 2008 I. Unique Cards You can ONLY use one of the following cards in your Deck, Extra Deck, and Side Deck combined. ONLY one card from this list can be in your Deck, Extra Deck, or Side Deck. werewolfjedi
Using the Advanced Format banlist: What if every Deck were allowed only 1 copy of only 1 card on the banlist? Discuss. then it would be traitional, duh. thats how it is in a nutshell.
Phantom Roxas
He said it's hypothetical, so all Forbidden Cards would now be Limited.
CrabHelmet
What he means is that, in addition to the cards you can normally have in your deck, you can select one AND ONLY ONE card that is Forbidden and add a single copy of it to your deck. So you can run 1 Pot of Greed OR you can run 1 Ring of Destruction, but you can't run both. Also, this defeats the purpose of banning cards, and would merely serve to make the format even more speedy and sackish than it already is. werewolfjedi
oh, so it is like the yu gi oh ds games when you collect 95% of the cards in the game. its not as helpful as it sounds. you ehter pick some card like cyber jar or an envoy to give you a jumpstart when it comes around, or some other card that was banned to stop an otk or ftk that your deck can do. its actualy not that helpful. Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
I just realized, Elmaxodia would be everywhere... >.< You'd have to add Exodia to the "banlist", not that it would be particularly unhelpful to do so. What he means is that' date=' in addition to the cards you can normally have in your deck, you can select one AND ONLY ONE card that is Forbidden and add a single copy of it to your deck. So you can run 1 Pot of Greed OR you can run 1 Ring of Destruction, but you can't run both.[/quote'] Correct post is correct, my misled friends. New question: What changes to the banlist would be necessitated in this format? For example, Exodia the Forbidden One would be banned because a player could run 1 copy of Butterfly Dagger - Elma. Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
In general, Elma is abusable. You would have to ban Royal Library and other cards that use Spell Counters if you could use Elma, and that's pointless :/
Kyub
Hmm. Well, Cyber Twin due to Cyber-Stein, possibly. Limiter Removal because of Ring of Destruction.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
Catapult Turtle for Scientist OTK, I just realized. Posting unique list now.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
Limiting/banning cards like Catapult Turtle, Exemplar, Royal Magical Library, Instant Fusion (for Thousand Eyes) and Gearfried would be stupid.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
However, it is necessary in this bizarre "unique format". That's the charm of it.
CrabHelmet
Scientist can OTK without Catapult Turtle. Creature Swap and Limiter Removal/United We Stand/Megamorph will suffice. Shadowpriestess of Ohm can also substitute for Catapult Turtle. You just need to throw in an Ookazi.
Guest PikaPerson01
Terrible idea. Forces a lot of decent, not broken cards to be banned just so they don't "interfere" with broken card when they're limited.
Aximil
I like the idea of the unique list. It would be interesting to see what cards people would choose to make OTK's and FTK's a lot easier to do.
Static
Crab got it, Scientist is the single most versatile OTK monster in the game. Definitely running Duo or PoG, or RoD in certain decks. The Cydra fusions would have to be banned in a heartbeat, and if I can still summon Cannon Soldier Mk 2, rather, ANY CARD OF THAT TYPE, I can still FTK with Scientist. EDIT: Also, Vanity's fiend, Royal Oppression, Jowgen all with Last Turn in the reach, especially with Cat Of Ill Omen being serious business and all.
