[SOL] Poverty & Terrorism Are Linked

End Of The Abyss

[sOLUTION]

I've discovered the way to end Terrorism. The leaders of Alkaida manipulate those who are poor to die for their religion, thinking it will please God. Like 9-11, they manipulated poor people from their reigon to pilot the planes. If we can end poverty, that will trigger the fall of Alakdia. There will be no poor people to manipulate. So we send troops to the mountains of Afghanistan to track Osama Binladen, who was last chased into the mountains by American troops. We eliminate Osama, and we've solved world problems.

DISCUSS.

This would have been a good idea about 8 years ago, before people like Bin-Laden showed up and brainwashed people into thinking that Islam justified his cause, which it doesn't. Now, even if they weren't poor some people would think that they had to help the terrorists because of their religion. The solution is to educate people in the middle east, not throw money at them. That would just make the problem worse.

I think reading this made me a little dumber

"Alkaida"? It's Al-Qaeda, genius

Poor, uneducated people? Have you actually ever been paying attention to who these terrorists are, or are you just pulling this out of your ass?

Several hijackers from 9/11 alone were well educated and made very good pay or were at least at a stable economic level where they wouldn't care for more than they had.

How do you plan to end poverty? Hell, if there was a way we would do it in the US first.

Osama was chased out of Afghanistan several years ago.

[/solution Fail]

@ Wombat:

Al-Qaeda has been around since about 1988. Educating the people wouldn't work anyways since several attackers are actually educated people.

@Altair:

True, Africa is the poorest continent. So using Dustin's logic, that means that we shouldn't care about the terrorists in Afghanistan, but focus on the people in Africa, they're the real threat.

It would not end poverty, it would only bring a means for greater chaos.

Think about it.

You have an army of 500 men, you don't feed them but once a week.

Your men do very little, because they have poor strength, and 2 die everyday.

Now, your brother, has the same amount of men, but they get fed everyday.

Who do you think is going to want to follow what their leader is telling them do?

I agree with problematica, poverty isn't tied all that closely to terrorism. The closest Africa is currently to Terrorism, are the pirates in Somalia, aka miles off it.

As long as people turn to religion when things are wrong, they can have the chance of being radicalized. Terrorism is just another way of people getting rid of what they're not happy with, but involving innocent people in the process.
