Name: Ultimate Crystal God - Rainbow Pendulum Dragon

Attribute: LIGHT
Type: Dragon / Pendulum / Effect
Level: 10
ATK: 4000
DEF: 0
Monster Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Pendulum Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Pendulum Summoned: You can send all "Crystal Beast" cards from your Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Graveyard; this card gains 600 ATK for each. If this face-up card would be destroyed (either by battle or a card effect): You can send 1 "Crystal Beast" card from your Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Graveyard instead. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You target 1 "Crystal Beast" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Pendulum Scale: <6 / >6
Pendulum Effect: Increase this card's Pendulum Scale by 1 for each "Crystal Beast" card with a different name you control (Max. 12). You can also Pendulum Summon any number of "Crystal Beast" monsters that are treated as Continuous Spell Cards from your Spell & Trap Card Zone, you cannot Pendulum Summon non-"Crystal" monsters at that time.

If you could not already tell from its name and artwork, this is yet another version of "Rainbow Dragon". Also since its name includes "Ultimate Crystal God", it can be used with cards like "Rainbow Neos", "Rainbow Gravity" and "Advanced Dark"(although the translated versions of those do imply you cannot). This card, however, is supposed to be somewhat easier to summon; and therefore be a more useful boss-monster for the "Crystal Beast" archtype.

This card's Pendulum Scale can go up by quite a bit, but it would require quite a dedicated "Crystal Beast" Deck; therefore the height of the Scale does not worrry me. Its other Pendulum Effect, however, does worry me a bit; it is a "Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle" effect without being a weak monster. Although there is an archtype which does about the same thing with more powerful cards ("Qliphort" if you couldn't guess).

Like its brothers (and/or sisters), this card has an effect which allows it to gain quite a some ATK by dispatching related cards (up to 3000 ATK in this card's case). Unlike the other "Rainbow Dragon" monsters, this card has an effect which can protect it. Due to those effects requiring the same type of cards, they might get in each other's way. Futhermore this card can replace itself when it is sent to the Graveyard, although that can be a little bit difficult to achieve since this card is a Pendulum Monster.

The artwork was sort of made by me (I traced "Rainbow Dragon" and slightly altered it). Also this card was made using "Zextra's Template".

What are your thoughts on the card? Is it overpowered, underwhelming, neither or both? Also any suggestions to improve this card would be appriciated.

Its a welcome addition to the crystal beast archtype, but you should add a second pendulum monster for them.

Although its nice to read (implicitly) that you like the card, your comment does not completly abide the rules (specifically the "Advanced Clause"). If you have not already read the "new" rules, I would advise you to do so (and act according to them); just so to avoid problems. The rules regarding this section can be found here.

Futhermore, I do agree on the point that "Crystal Beast" cards can also use at least 1 more Pendulum Monster; but until then, go with a generic monster that has a decently low Pendulum Scale (like "Dragon Horn Hunter" and "Foucault's Cannon"). Also, after a little research, I have found another member whom has created some "Crystal Beast" Pendulum monsters prior to me (the thread is old, so don't post unless you want to necrobump).

As far as the "This card can only be Pendulum Summoned..." what Scale 11 is there, again? Other than this thing with a full C-Beast Graverow? The card is WAY too situational as it is.

You are correct on the fact that this card is currently the only monster with a possible Pendulum Scale of 11 (not counting cards from other people on this forum). So it is can indeed be a bit hard to Summon it.

What do you suggest to increase its usability? My own suggestion would be to have its Pendulum Scale go up by 1 (max. 12) for each "Crystal Beast" monster on the field, not just in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. Does this sound reasonable?  Another option would be to remove the "when this card is the only monster you Pendulum Summon ", so it does not hinder the swarming as much (or implement both effects).

The idea to make his scale increase for each crystal beast on the field should be ok as the deck is on its own rather slow this would allow quick (small) improvements of the scale.

The "when this card is the only monster you Pendulum Summon " part does not seem to be important to prevent multiple copies of this card to be dropped at once (actually you could only play up to 2 at once), unless this card is meant to exist with other crystal beast pendulum monsters, in that case the limitation is alright and interesting on its own.

You could also exchange the part where he gains 1000 ATK for an improvement of gaining 1000 life points, or give it the ability to absorb the crystal beasts in your s/t zone for 500 ATK for each one send to the graveyard, but it should have a reference to at least 1 offensive effect the original rainbow dragon has (and by that I mean an own offensive ability, as it being a pendulum monster means enough defence) or you could give this an ability to support the original Rainbow Dragon, while this card is in your pendulum zone.

Made some changes to this card's effect and name. The name change is to avoid confusion about whether it is a "Crystal" card or not.

It now increases its ATK by up to 3000 upon Summoning, by getting rid of all "Crystal Beast" cards in your Spell & Trap Card Zone. This does however make it more vulnerable, as it effect cannot protect it for some time. Also it does no longer gain ATK when it protects itself from destruction. Another point is that it does no longer limit your Pendulum Summon to only this monster; that part did not really make much sense as you would only be able to Pendulum Summon up to 2 copies at the same time, since the third one is busy swinging. Futhermore it lets you Special Summon a "Crystal Beast" monster from your Graveyard, should you get this card in your Graveyard.

For its Pendulum Effect, it now goes up by 1 for each differently named "Crystal Beast" card on the field, rather than in your Spell & Trap Card Zone. Lastly it allows you to Pendulum Summon any number of Continuous Spell "Crystal Beast" monsters from your Spell & Trap Card Zone, instead of just 1. This might be a bit overpowered, but you are limited to "Crystal" monsters only when you do (not including cards like "Chronomaly Crystal Skull", "Chronomaly Crystal Bones", "Gem-Knight Crystal" and "B.E.S. Crystal Core").

Now lets just hope these changes did not make this card (too) overpowered.
