The "-styx" Continuation- "In a world without water..."

Recommended Posts

Though I call this a "Continuation", it's moreso the second Card Pack in my "-styx" archetype. I've already finished the first Card Pack if you want to check it out. I wouldn't recommend commenting, however, because that would be thread necromancy. Instead, just post the changes you think must be made with those cards here, and I'll add them to the OP. For now, I'd like to introduce a new Archetype that plays along with the "-styx" Archetype. While it does branch off a fair bit from them, these cards are indeed related, as I'm sure you'll soon see.

As always, I am open to CnC for all my cards! Mind you, this is only the re-beginning for this archetype, as this is the second card pack I've made for it. If you want to check out the first, and didn't bother to use the link previously provided to you, you can view it here. I hope that you can take the time out of your day to review my archetype! It's beginning to come together, somewhat, but mind you, I still have a LONG ways to go! Have a good day!

EDIT: 3/13/16 - Added the rest of the "Enhanced" "-styx" monsters; Alex, Ferris, and Jeremiah all have their forms finished!

EDIT: 3/16/16 - Added Traps to the Archetype and edited some of the monsters and their effects to balance things out.

EDIT: 3/17/16 - Finished up "-styx" Card Pack #2- "The Heathens of Nixtah"! (Added 2 Effect Monsters, 3 Ritual Monsters, and 3 Spells.)

Sigh... Still have some cards that are too OP, but it wasn't as horrific as the worms.

Ignoring the Normal Monsters as they have to effect, I'll move on to the ones with effects.

Maaoran: This card has nothing wrong with it specifically, but 2000/1100 wothout a specific Summoning condition is a little to high for a Level 4 effect monster. Also, it can be splashed into other decks, as long as they run King of the Feral Imps.

Nyne: This is what I meant. Unlike Qlis, Zefras, or Magicians, this card is a Scale 9 Level 4 effect monster that has no restrictions on its Pendulum Summoning. This card would be better in a Rank 4 Spam deck as opposed to this archetype. Also, 2400 DEF is way too much for a Level 4 effect monster, regardless of low ATK. At most, it should only have 2000 DEF. The Union effect needs to be more clear because ot doesn't specify if it's an equip from the hand or the field.

Erenguard: This card is way too generic and powerful. Tributing any number of Humasilks can also be 0, and you'd get a Level 8 2800 ATK beater onto the field for free. Bad idea. Not only that, the Summon/Effect isn't even limited to OPT, which is really discerning.

Spawn: Nothing wrong with this one. All of its effects are fair.

Technique: Again, it may be way too powerful based on being generic. Geminis could use this, Normal monster beatdown could use this. I'm merely suggesting here that this card can be used bettter in other decks. Good thing you hard OPTed the effects, but there might be something else I'm forgetting here.

Nixtah: This was somewhat unclear and confusing. Also, a much more powerful Messenger of Peace considering your opponent's monsters cannot declare attacks. Not sure of the point in giving an opponent's monsters the boost if they can't attack, but a cost is recommended for using this card.

Retaliation: Too OP and generic. Ignoring the last effect, Monarchs would love the first, and Lightsworns the second. Not only that, this card is ridiculous if you have more than 1 copy on the field. Change it so you can only control 1 at a time.

Not sure of the last monster cards because I don't know the cards that summons them.

Ehanstyx: Pendulum Call. However, aince it locks down the Special Summoning for the hand in the same turn, it's not very apppealing. Not sure on how the second effect would resolve, but It is really weird in the wording.

The card grammar problem occurs in the other cards too.

Bump; MAJOR edits done- Added the Boss Monsters of the "Humasilisk" archetype that works alongside/against the "-styx" monsters also added to this archetype. The Card Pack is FINISHED, but not FINALIZED. That will come after some CnC, both by myself, and more importantly, by others in the community.

Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 monster you control; set 1 "Humasilisk" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Special Summoned monsters your opponent controls lose 200 ATK.

Monster Effect:  Level 2 monsters you control can attack your opponent directly. This card cannot be destroyed by card effects. These effects cannot be negated.

Searchable scale 1 is nice.  The atk is still a bit too big to have without restrictions, I'd suggest 1900. The ability to search any of the themed spell cards is very powerful, since the spells themselves are quite powerful. I suggest you limit it to tributing a humasilisk monster.

Pendulum Effect: When a card(s) is Pendulum Summoned to your side of the field: You can add one Level 2 monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.

Monster Effect: Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 face-up monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. (A monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead.) The equipped monster gains the following effect.

● This card cannot be destroyed by battle. Your opponent takes any Battle Damage you would have taken from battles involving this card.

A pendulum union monster is interesting. The union effect's fine the way it was, since ignition effects always activate on the field. It's an interesting card, since it can be equipped to any monster to let it reflect damage. I don't know if there's anything that can abuse it though. The pendulum effect should not be generic, since it can search any number of things, not just archetypal cards.

Monster Effect: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by tributing any number of "Humasilisk" Monsters you control (min. 1) and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Normal Monsters you control can attack your opponent directly. If 4 or more monsters were tributed to summon this card, it gains this effect:

● If this card is Special Summoned: Draw 1 card, then destroy 1 card your opponent controls. If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Battle Phase.
I took the liberty of making the drawing effect trigger upon summon. That is what you were going for, yes?
Don't think it should allow all normal monsters to attack directly, because then I can attack directly with stuff like Blue-Eyes White Dragon. May want to limit it by level or something. I feel like it's a bit too powerful to be summoned with one tribute, too, since you're getting a 2800 beater that allows all your monsters to direct attack. Maybe up it to 2.

Effect: When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Reptile-Type Normal Monster from your Deck to your hand. You can destroy this card and 1 Level 2 or lower Normal Monster you control; shuffle 1 face-up monster on the field into the Deck and inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK. Reptile-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK.
So the biggest thing it could search is the 1900 Alien Shocktrooper. That's acceptable. The second effect doesn't require a once per turn, because it removes itself from the field anyway.
I think the second effect is too powerful to not target.

Effect: Tribute any number of Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters whose combined Levels are less than 10; inflict damage to your opponent equal to the combined Levels of the Tributed monsters x300. During either player's turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card; Special Summon any number of Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters whose combined Levels are less than 10 from your Graveyard in Defense Position, and their DEF becomes 0. You can only use 1 "Humasilisk Technique" per turn.
The first effect is sort of useless but can burn for game. The second effect is amazing. It's going to take at least two turns, however, since you have to wait a turn after sending this card to the graveyard and another turn to change all the monsters you summoned to attack mode, but it's still an amazingly powerful card that lends a lot of explosiveness to the deck. Also, the level limitations are redundant since you can't possibly either tribute or summon enough monsters so that their levels are more than 10.

Effect: When this card is activated: Send all "-styx" cards your opponent controls to the Graveyard, ignoring their effects. Your opponent cannot activate Field Spells. Your opponent's monsters cannot declare attacks, and lose 100 ATK for every face-up "Humasilisk" card you control. During your End Phase: Send 1 "Humasilisk" monster you control to the Graveyard or destroy this card.
It'd be a very powerful card, if not for the amount of s/t destruction running around lately. Is the end phase effect mandatory or can you just pop it anytime by choosing not to send?

Effect: Once per turn, if a Normal Monster(s) you control is Tributed: You can target any number of those Tributed cards: Special Summon them during your End Phase. Once per turn, if a "Humasilisk" monster(s) is sent from your Deck to the Graveyard: You can target cards your opponent controls, up to the number of cards sent; send them to the Graveyard. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Target as many Normal Monsters in your Graveyard as possible; shuffle them into the Deck, then draw 1 card. You can only control 1 "Humasilisk Furious Retaliation".
Helps you recover the advantage you would lose to the tribute effects. I don't think many of these cards send from your deck, but you could use Snake Rain to practically nuke your opponent's field. The last effect seems more like a drawback, since a lot of your effects revive from the grave.

Effect: Once per turn, when a Special Summoned monster your opponent controls activates an effect: You can Tribute 1 "Humasilisk" monster; negate that monster's effect and shuffle it into the Deck. While this card is face-up on the field, "Humasilisk" monsters you control gain 100 ATK.
That's really powerful stun. I suggest making it a hard once per turn, and having it not shuffle.

Effect: Once per turn, when your opponent would Special Summon a monster(s): Tribute 1 "Humasilisk" monster; negate that Summon, and if you do, take damage equal to the Tributed monster's Level x1000, then your opponent gains that much LP. You can only use 1 "Humasilisk Pit" per turn.
The drawback's acceptable, making this basically more copies of Solemn Warning.

Effect: Once per turn, when a monster is Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field: You can pay LP in increments of 500; Special Summon a number of "Snake-Eater Tokens" (Reptile/EARTH/Level 2/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field in Attack Position. These Tokens cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon or used as Synchro Materials for a Synchro Summon.
It's generic and it single-handedly makes OTKs by providing a bunch of 0 atk monsters for Revolution Falcon/Cat Dancer/Chimeratech Overdragon to attack. Have it summon in defense position. Also, I'm really not sure what to do for the OCG here.

Effect: Target 1 "Humasilisk" monster you control; equip this card to it. It gains 300 ATK. If it attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing Battle Damage to your opponent. If this card is sent to the Graveyard because the equipped monster was Tributed for a Summon: equip this card to the card that monster was tributed for. You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Humasilisk" monster you control; when it attacks this turn, it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the end of the Battle Phase. You can only use each of these effects of "Humasilisk Desert Scimitar" once per turn, and can only control 1 "Humasilisk Desert Scimitar".
Is the part in italics what you were going for?

Effect: Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Reptile/FIRE/Level 6/ATK 2300/DEF 1500). (This card is also still a Trap Card.) This card cannot attack or be used as Synchro or Xyz Material, and it cannot  be Tributed except for the Summon of a "-styx" or "Humasilisk" monster. If this card is Tributed for a Summon: Equip it to the Summoned Monster. The equipped monster can declare a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn. When this card is Tributed for a Summon, the Summoned monster gains the following effect.
● When this card is Summoned: Draw 1 card.
Really complicated, and doesn't really fit with the theme.

Effect: Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Reptile/Water/Level 6/ATK 1500/DEF 2300). (This card is also still a Trap Card.) This card cannot attack or be used as Synchro or Xyz Material, and it cannot  be Tributed except for the Summon of a "-styx" or "Humasilisk" monster. If this card is Tributed for a Summon, equip it to the Summoned Monster. When the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle, gain LP equal to that monster's ATK. When this card is Tributed for a Summon, the Summoned monster gains the following effect.

● When this card is Summoned: Return 1 card on the field to the hand.

Non-targeting non-destroying effects are powerful. Keep that in mind.

Effect: When this card is activated: Target 1 monster your opponent controls; Tribute a number of "Humasilisk" monsters equal to or greater than that target's Level, and if you do, take control of that target. When that card leaves the field, except by being Tributed, you lose 3000 LP. When that card is Tributed: Draw 2 cards. When this card leaves the field: Shuffle that card into your opponent's Deck. You can only control one "Sacrificial Gains".
Pot of greed effect is overpowered, so that should be removed. Also you should prevent the stolen monster from attacking.

I'm not going to review the styx, just going to say that if you write "-styx" on the card, it's gonna require the cards to have a dash in the name. Just make the archetype name "styx".

Effect: Must be Ritual Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, when a monster you control would leave the field by an opponent's card effect: You can send this card to the Graveyard; negate that effect, and if you do, banish it and this card. If this card is Ritual Summoned from the banished zone: Add 2 "Humasilisk" Pendulum Monsters to your hand, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.
Man, you have sooo many cards XP
Rituals now? I feel that this archetype does too many things. No one's ever going to use all of these cards in the same deck.
Add 2 pendulum monsters to your hand from where? And an instant pendulum scale is pretty op. Also I changed the 'gains this effect' to a simple trigger effect, because you're overcomplicating things.

Effect: Must be Ritual Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, if a Spell/Trap Card you control would leave the field by an opponent's card effect: You can send this card to the Graveyard; negate that effect, and if you do, banish it and this card. If this card is Ritual Summoned from the banished zone: Add 2 "Humasilisk" Spell/Trap cards from your Deck to your hand, and if you do, discard up to two cards from your opponent's hand.
That discarding effect is way overpowered. Make it discard 1, randomly. The search 2 is also quite op, because of how powerful the s/t support is.

Effect: Must be Ritual Summoned by Tributing "Erengard, The Humasilisk Champion" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Normal Monsters you control can attack your opponent directly. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: Send the top card of their Deck to the Graveyard. Cards sent to the Graveyard by this effect cannot activate effects the turn they're sent. If this card would be destroyed, you can send 1 "Humasilisk" card you control to the Graveyard; this card is not destroyed. You can banish 1 "Humasilisk" or "styx" card from your Graveyard; add this card and 1 Ritual Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand.
See what I said earlier about Blue-Eyes getting a direct attack. Second effect is op.

Effect: This card can be used to Ritual Summon any Reptile-type Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal the Level of that Ritual Monster, but all Effect Monsters you tribute have their Levels halved. Once per turn: You can shuffle 1 "Humasilisk" Spell/Trap Card from your Graveyard into the Deck; return this card from your Graveyard to your hand. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Humasilisk" or "styx" Ritual Monster on the field; when it declares an attack this turn, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step. You can only use 1 effect of "Humasilisk Diamond Overdrive" per turn and only once that turn.
Wayyy complicated. You should make the graveyard recursion effect unable to activate the turn it's sent to the graveyard.

Effect: This card can be used to Ritual Summon 1 of your banished "Humasilisk" Ritual Monsters. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal the Level of that Ritual Monster, but all Effect Monsters you tribute have their Levels halved. That monster cannot attack the turn it's Ritual Summoned. If you Ritual Summoned a Level 8 or higher monster: Gain LP equal to its ATK. Once per turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card and 1 "Humasilisk" or "styx" Ritual Monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 monster with a Level equal to the Level of the banished monster, ignoring its Summoning conditions. You can only use 1 "Emergency Interdimensional Revival" effect per turn and only once that turn.
Special summon from where?

Well, that was a lot. You may want to put less cards in a single post next time. It's a good archetype, but there's a lot of boss cards compared to the amount of tribute fodder or recursion. And many of the effects are really complicated, making them a headache to read. Love the art tho.
