Skyson, as I mentioned...

The LCM is more like Pride, and we always consider ourselves at the same level as the other members. Always. Never higher, and sometimes lower due to our pride labeling ourselves. We are the idols, as we like to consider, but that is it.

No offense, but I'm not entirely certain what Card Contests have to do with it. Or at least I'm not seeing what the connection is between them. The Thread were talking about, isn't a Contest, it's just a thread for more experienced card makers.

Ive seen people with 3posts and be better than most people on the forum. That alone, disproves your argument.

 

Also, Card Contests can be used to gain an excess of reps and points. 72night had 160+ reps and only like 100posts. And lord knows how many points. Skill isn't a common judge...

So do you think, you can't judge quality? Or perhaps that there isn't much of a way to determine who should and who shouldn't be able to post on said Thread?

 

Edit: Also, are you saying that 72night had lots of Rep, but not as high of a Level? Or that he didn't have lots of skill, even though he got so much Rep?

One thing i would like to be reviewed is the SotW contest thread that is stickied here. it was an awesome idea, but it seems like the thread has been forgotten..

 

i posted a week ago inquiring about what would happen to the winning thread. a week later and there is no post from the original thread maker.

 

that seems a bit too much like a dead thread..

 

and not only that, but it is starting to attract spammers.

 

i would just like to review its usefulness, and to see if it should stay there.

if no one else stepped up i would take it over, though i would request my own thread. i have done something similar before, for card ratings, that was very popular. i believe that i could keep a Set of the Week up and going.

 

not to say Lost Letter isnt a good person for the job, it is just slightly irritating that he hasnt posted in the thread for 23 days... and he had been on since after his last post.

That would force ranking, which I believe not to be good.

 

And while I am in the LCM, it is merely pride over actuality.

 

Segregation isn't unfair. It actually puts some merit behind these little stars we get in our profiles based on our post count.

 

Well, I've been getting PMs from several members asking about this. And I feel that though unfair, and nearly impossible, its a good idea. Or, we can make Realistic Cards for perfectly done realistic cards. Not cards with major ocg errors, sloppy pics, or imensely overpowered effects. So thats why I like the idea of a place where finished cards could be posted. Not finished sets, finished cards. Like split it up. Solid realistic cards in one forum, cards that need correction and opinion in another.

Unpractical. But in this case, it brings unneeded competition for perfection. Thereby, creating less emphasis on the actual effect.

OCG is official Card grammar. That is the semi-official way to type up your card's lore.

K, here's where that idea is bad.

Your idea of seperation is what would create arguments and conflict, in my opinion: Using a system of measuring which cards and/or cardmakers are "perfect." Perfect is a concept.

 

I was suggesting using a measurement of common ground that is measureable, obtainable, is something that can be worked towards, can't [for the most part] be taken away, and once obtained is not up for dispute, for example user levels. I am [as of this post] a Level 4 user, I think. That can be seen by all other users, and nobody can argue that my user level is above or below 4. No conflict!

 

That's an idea, but it illustrates my focus: Use seperation, but not the kind that people will get butthurt about because they aren't good enough and don't think they ever will be good enough for. Use the kind that people can see and notice about the higher quality members. That's my idea. Take it for what it is, I guess.

Personally, I would check to see if there is anyone willing to take over the responsibilities of the thread. If there is someone capable and competent then we should keep it stickied until the new person shows that he is incapable of handling the thread. If noone is willing to take it over then remove the sticky.

Or this way: We could have someone take over, make their own thread, and switch out the stickies. it is hard to manage the thread of someone else's without being able to edit it.. :|

 

and, i do believe there are competent people here able to do that. As of right now that thread exists as a dead, spam-collecting thread.

I thought the reason you would say that the plan fails was that creating a section with already finished cards (good OCG, balanced, etc) would be pointless to look at since all comments that are worth reading are usually constructive critisism to improve the card. The worse you look at it, the most that it can improve. But already "good" cards that have nothing to improve on and are only sitting there to be appresiated... :/

 

I support the idea of a new OCG thread. There was a time I wanted to check on something and couldn't find one (except a Dark Synchro thread or something), what happened to the old thread by the way?

 

Next issue:

Comments like "cool 30/10" & "AWESOME 10/10" (or even shorter ones) are really irritating, but if there is nothing that moderators can do about it, Neg reps is the only thing that comes to mind and I don't really like it..hmm.... I hope someone comes up with a desent idea..(if there is anything that can be done about it)..

 

1 or 2 of the suggestions I've seen in previews pages are more suited to be asked to the administrator rather than the mods ..

 

For now I can't come up with any suggestion myself (other than some ideas already suggested by others) ...

Hey' date=' Icy. ;) i believe that this will be just one of many things i would like to suggest. XD

 

One thing that really irritates me in this section is a bunch of, n00b and experienced member alike, comments of a single word or phrase for a reply on a thread, such as: "Awesome" or "Neat 10/10"

 

I know there isnt much we can do or enforce upon this, but i know that we have no such rule against it right now. I would like to see a warning increase whenever a person doesnt put a reasoning to a rating in their comments, such as lumping in this type of post as a spam post. because that is really what it is, it doesnt further you or anything. It just gets you a word that leaves you hanging. Did they even look at it? Who's to know? they may just copypasta the same thing into multiple places. that sounds like spam to me.. not only that but it is supah mega irritatin'.

 

See where im going with that? :D

A person over time will grow out of it. And during that time, they will make many cards and getting the same rates. This influences a member to continue. They also know that there will always be those who give the constructive criticism they need, in addition to the post encouragement.
