You cannot duel in the tournament without a Gx Medal. When you win a duel, you can take one medal from the opponent you dueled. If you don't have a Gx Medal, you are disqualified from the tournament. The duelists in the Diamond City Gx Tournament have been given two medals that looks like this. The reason all duelists have been given two medals, is so that if they lose a duel, they won't be out of the tournament. When you win a duel, you can take one medal from your opponent.
