@arkel

explain to me how burn damage' date=' once inflicted, is different from normal damage. does 4k burn + 4k direct not = game? i get the idea of one big push can be easily followed up in an average burn deck, but at the same time one big push can usually be followed up in any sort of deck that relies on attacking or inflicting damage, unless youre playing it wrong. especially ls, given honest. and blackwings given blackwing honest. and gbs and monarchs given their general destruction capabilities.

With TRoar, the occasional Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute, and anything else that can f*** up your Battle Phase, burn decks find it much easier to push for lots of damage, especially in Chain Burn.

Hm... This is an excellent card to Lawl at. You may roll yourself on the floor while laughing also.

Back in the day this card was pretty good. There were no sak, threatening roar, only waboku and mirror force to compete. using waboku, mirror force, and this would leave your opponent very annoyed in one way or another. I had a guy forfeit the match since he got so annoyed at not being able to touch my life points.

In today's game this card is still good outside of decks. The secret rare makes my binder look shiny. It brings back good memories of how a Mucus Yolk with 8000 Atk cost the game because of a magic cylinder. Magic Cylinder is still pretty annoying when used against you in todays game but that would be because you did not destroy the card before attacking.

All toasters' date=' toast toast!

Which perfectly qualifies as an excuse to unban Sneasel.

What about Prof. Oak?

On-Topic: Magic Cylinder was a good card to tech, last format.

Get the opponent to use all 3 of there Solemns -> they attack -> game

itt: my arguments are mostly ignored.

@darkest hour' date=' if all it took to stop an opponent from attacking permanently was to set 1 st a turn, this game would be hella stupid. you can attack while your opponent has set cards, you just have to realistically think of the worst case scenario before you do so. in this meta though, the worst thing youll likely run into is a roar. though occasionally a mirror force. my point is, if you pussy out every time your opponent sets something and you dont have mst or heavy or the 20 generic and st destroyers common atm, then you just.. well, suck. sometimes you dont have the luxury of the right card at the right time, and that requires you to stay flexible. the best duelists dont follow a set script, they adapt. the only rule #1 is dont forget to draw.

rule #2 is dont forget to mill :P

i also fail to see how raiza, dd warrior lady, and chaos sorcerer punish bad play. or why you think any of those should be at 3. (why is raiza at 3 again?) raiza does what? punish the opponent for allowing him to special summon a monster before normalling? or for not stopping the treeborn in his grave from reviving itself? and what? chaos punishes you for not... playing soul release?

bad argument is bad.

Hmmm, you said what I wanted to say, and said it way better than I did. I meant in best case scenario, if you don't want to get shafted by the opponent majorly and lose, then don't attack yet. Magic Cylinder is bleh.

They punish bad play because if you don't have anything in your deck to answer to them with, or just don't run monster removal and all tech, they are going to kill you. People complained about 3 D.D.W.Ls and flame Chaos Sorcerer, but all in all, that's because they either couldn't counter them or just based their entire deck around getting beatsticks, synchros and underused "staples" out only to have them removed the same turn they were summoned. I'm probably missing something in my supporting factor.

Magic Cylinder was the best it's ever been last format, with Solemn and DSF reducing lifepoints at a rate that made the average Magic Cylinder draw a draw that could win you the game.

It still wasn't played.

Why? It's a reactive trap. You're relying on your opponent to perform a certain action at a certain time with no preceding actions that might interrupt your plan. At 3, Magica Cylinder would have been pretty scary last format, but it's really not worth it as an individual card. It just doesn't have enough of an effect on the result of a game.

It's non-chainable. What good excuse would one have to use it if it's not a mass-destruction card like Mirror Force?

Quite simply, the main problem with it is just that. It's been pointed out several times already, I know.

Well, they ARE about to unban Bill, I wouldn't be surprised...

Appearently; the new discussion is: who has the best proof that MC sucks?

It's not really that Magic Cylinder sucks, it's that there's scores of other cards that work much better.

itt: trolls abound a troll card

first off:

In today's game this card is still good outside of decks.

that just made me laugh.

next' date=' did anyone notice that for the lulz has the same acronym as for the lose?

poor ftl.

next

@darkest hour:

if your entire deck is reactive, then you really dont stand a chance of winning. you could either set 3 divine wraths and 2 solemns before every monster you summon, or you could try to maintain a steady supply of monsters. the meta adapted the latter and started running fast and hard so that they could take a ddwarriorjabroni to the face and not lose momentum.

"second, me admitting that i should have lost is funny? err, why? if my deck and dueling ability were inferior to my opponents, (except in the case of lucksackzodia), shouldnt i deserve to lose? is the premise of this game not that skill and strategy in deck construction and play are the determinants of who will win? or is it all random chance to you? do you believe that there is no skill involved, no one who deserved, not just should have, but deserved to lose?"

lol

you said this

"i think its a bad card for usage and for its inherent design. it rewards losing and punishes winning.

turning around a game with 1 card to the point where you should have lost but instead your opponent who did almost everything right loses. and you, who only managed to set one card and nothing else, won."

not me

and no, nobody ever "deserves to win"

This is a game of chance

"Deserving" to win a YGO game is like deserving to win the lottery
