HORUS
So I was on FailBlog, just checking stuff out, when I decided to click "VOTE" and see some pictures to vote on. It brings me to a page called something like 'rootscan' that looks like the window that comes up when you hit "My Documents". So it starts telling me I have 9 critical viruses and wants me to fix them and it automatically starts downloading something, and I freaked out and canceled everything and closed my browser. Has this happened to anyone else?
J-Max
Happened to me before Minus the Auto Download thing (Always make sure to have Spybot and AVG Anti Virus open.
Dark
Did you have any anti-virus programs running? Did they do anything?
HORUS
I don't think I had anything running. All I had to do was close out. I'm pretty sure the page was telling me I had loads of viruses so I would agree with the download, which was the actual viruses.

Womi
God's wrath Maybe its because of failblog's religion? If it stopped downloading, you should be fine.
El Beasto Perezoso
This is actually a webpage designed to look like the Windows Explorer to trick people into downloading a virus. I don't know for sure, but I most likely IS auto downloading, but it's a virus, not virus protection or anything. How do I know? My friend got it on his Wii one day. harhar
I've had that many times before.I think it's like an advertisement. Those "9 critical viruses" dont exist, it's just trying to get you to download their product.Instead of closing the browser you could have hit "Back", then a box pops up and hit "Ok". Lemniscate
I would suggest checking your files to see if it has planted any new files in your registry so it can relaunch itself. If it isn't relaunching, and you can't find any new files, you should be fine. ♥ ЅϯᵲåώӀӞ℮ᴙʀɣ−ɴɨɨ−ƈħåɴ ♥
No. And does it even seem like your computer changed at all after that? If not, then it was just one of those spyware/virus advertisements claiming you had them.
Dismal Euphony
This is actually pretty common. It's supposed to look like a routine scan, only it tells you that your PC has infections when it really doesn't (usually). It tricks people into downloading phony anti-virus executable files which are actually viruses or trojans. One of the most common phony anti-virus programs is Windows Police Pro. So beware. If that page opens, close your browser IMMEDIATELY.

Infinitus
There's actually this fake virus destruction thing that pops up every now and then, and it says you have a certain amount of trojans on 4 different files, and the amount of trojans on each file is the same, and so are the files. I can't remember the number of trojans it says, but it will do a fake virus scan, and keep begging you to run this virus eliminator, which is probably a fake. I saw it once, ignored. Saw it again like a week ago, and it was the same amount of trojans n' stuff. So I was liek "Dood, dis stuf iz faek."
