Man denied custody of his child

This is purely sad. He had no clue what happened and yet Utah is doing that. I have just lost more faith in the American government and legal system.

It's just Utah. Not other state does that.

If your referring to how I'm losing faith then I am losing faith because this proves how poor the system is. The family with the child should give it up.

I love how no one in this topic realizes that its not the father's happiness we should be concerned with.

Pro-tip: It's the childs :)

And if/when the child finds out she was taken from her father and was never given the chance to meet up in spite of his best efforts to find her?

I guess the child should just Q__Q themselves to death.

I mean, its so hard to find people these days, I mean, we only have so much technology that can help us.

Also, a multitude of studies have shown that kids who are adopted into a two parent family are happier then living with a single parent family.

Regardless, that child would be living in a two parent family if the mother would've done the part she had vowed to do with the father. (said in article she had vowed to John Wyatt.)

Instead, she decides to put the baby up for adoption. What annoys me, is her lawyer said the mother believed John didn't have what it took to raise the child. When the hell does she get to decide that? I don't care if she went through 12 hours of labor, she doesn't get to decide alone if the father can or can't do something, or is or isn't capable of doing something, and giving it away.

Of course, I could have misread the article about when the lawyer said the mother believed John wasn't capable of raising the baby, but what I do remember is she believing she should've put the baby up for adoption because she had plans. Sure, it was what was best for the baby, but what about the father? The baby may have had a better life if it was raised with 2 parent families, but that doesn't mean she can make a decision for the father.

I am absolutely disgusted with this.

Oh yeah, I forgot, after you have 1 baby, you can't have anymor...oh wait.

That doesn't mean it still won't emotionally affect him. More importantly, don't you think that baby will one day find out that his father was screwed out of his child by the child's mother? What do you think will happen then? If I were that child, I would want to see my real father so bad.

Are you seriously suggesting that if someone takes your child away you should just shrug and say "Oh well, time to make another." ?

In that case, I'll just go kill your brother. It's cool though: You can always go funk your mother and make a new one.

The Mormons complain about how people think they still practice polygamy' date=' and then they turn around and pull this crap?

Just wow.

Hmmm.... let's see. Utah's involved so obviously this entire event is to be completely blamed on the Mormons. Great logic there. Kindly don't go blaming the church as they had no direct involvement in the decision. You talk like Mormons look for opportunities to do this. I don't want to fight over this, in fact I don't want to post here anymore after this but I can't let this point just go like that. All I ask is that you don't blame a church for something that wasn't their fault. It's very inconsiderate.

And I will say this. If this guy wanted his kid he should have married his girl friend before even trying to have the kid. Problem would have been solved right there.

Utah is culturally conservative, and lawyers say the powerful Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with its emphasis on family values, has strongly encouraged adoption-friendly laws. "The Utah statutes can be harsh, but they are looking at what's best for the child: stable placements and two-parent families," said David Hardy, a lawyer for LDS Family Services, a Mormon Church-affiliated adoption agency that is among the nation's largest.

Even if he proposed, what if she said no? And even if she did say yes, would that have stopped her from pulling this?

Well lets see Utah has a very big Mormon population and a lot of lawmakers are Mormon. So yes i can blame this on Mormons.
