I think we mis-read Divine Warning

Recommended Posts

I'm sure we all know what Divine Warning does

According to the lolwiki's rulings:

"Divine Warning" cannot negate the activation of a Spell or Trap Card if the Spell or Trap Card does not include the effect of Special Summoning a monster' date=' such as "Smashing Ground"., "Lightning Vortex", or "Raigeki Break".[/quote']

It now makes sence as to why its a Common.

And appearently it can be used on Nimble Momonga or Marauding Captain.

Discuss Divine Warning, and how they will probobly print this as a Secret Rare, knowing that we wont pay attention to the rulings, and think its another Solemn Judgment.

I remember this being mentioned in a thread about Counter Fairies, but when I looked at it, I couldn't understand why it was good. Its wording says that not only is there a 2000 LP cost, but it only negates Special Summons or effects that involve Special Summons.

It negates Normal and Flip Summons as well, I think.

It negates any type of Summon but it can only negate spells and traps that deal with Special Summons. That's worth 2000 in my book as it can shut down any Synchro, Infernity Launcher, Rekindling, and Gottoms' Emergency Call...

But it can be used against anything.

Except Heavy Storm' date=' Swords of Revealing Light, Trap hole, Mirror Force, etc

XD you know what I mean, stop nit-picking. I meant any SUMMON. srsly O.o

I know, but still....

You know that setting a backrow of these and trying to drive the opponent up a wall that early, is just asking for an auto-Heavy Storm. Heck, they can just pull it out of thin air.

It's actually not that risky. People fear Starlight Road enough to think twice about blowing up the back row. You can even bluff Starlight Road, and you probably won't get hit by nukes often.

It still has an Oppression-esque effect.

Its effectivly a weird Royal Oppression+Trap Hole variant.

Mind games play an important roll in Yugimonz.

Gorz/Honest/Kalut say hi?

Can this card can negate cards like "Starlight Road" or "Jurrac Meteor"? Those cards Special Summon monsters, but is the last thing they do. I am not sure if this card negates them simply because they CAN Special Summon a monster.

cards like these can negate any card that includes the effect of special summoning a monster.

this includes starlight road, crystal abundance, lava golem, etc.

however i believe in this case lava golem will still tribute your guys.

this is boy-oppression, and guess what?

IT CAN STOP GORZ.

currently the only card that can.

edit: one caveat, if the effect text may or may not special summon a monster, i dont think it can negate it. i cant think of an example off the top of my head, but i remember reading that somewhere in the solemn/oppression rulings.

Wait' date=' did people actually think this could negate any effect for 2000 (making it much better than solemn)? I always read it as only stopping SS effects.

That's what i read too, how people could misread it :o

OT: I prefer paying half of my life points rather than 2000!! I think not even the cost makes it better than Solemn
