Back then you got victories by finding good combos to either beatdown or lock your oppennet, not find one or two archetypes, shove them into a deck with some broken stuff you jammened into your extra deck, and call everyone who beats you out on using op cards. The game was actually pretty simple, if you used Raigeki you were op because that card WAS cheap, and if your deck included warriors then well, good for you. No OH if you have X you must use SUPPORT 1-5 because if you cant get everything out in one turn your a terrible duelist and dont use N because N is cheap and i know this because N always beats my decks. Decks weren't "Oh its Blackwings" it was just your deck, it had cards, some were cool, some okay, and you used it. Now yugioh is pretty much a violent rendition of highschool, cliche run and everyone whispering s*** about other cliches behind their backs. Then like, dude, make a deck following those rules and kick ass with it or something. Archetypes are commonly used because they work, and they work well. If you can make a deck that doesn't run them (like a decent amount of people, not everybody uses archetypes bro) and it works well, congrats, you have a good deck. I kinda liked it better when yugioh wasn't run by archetypes and rather just normal types and strategies. It just seems lame. Especially if you like mystery since you're reading the Da Vinci Code, TGWTDT will keep your attention too. Lisbeth is also a great character to read about. I speak so highly of the book though, I'd make anyone go read it xD And I never played or got into Mother 3 or Earthbound, etc ;____; Such a shame. Seems like such good games. I had to update my Machina's cause Xyz Monsters, so I had to get rid of Solidarity and s***.
