Now there needs to be a good archetype that does not need to swarm. >_>

Unfortunately, the way the Life Point system is set up in relation to the stats of monsters, combined with how easy card design has made swarming, results in swarm naturally becoming an obvious and powerful option while things like Tribute Summoning fall away. Low-level monsters being able to deal 1/5-1/4 of the initial LP in damage, while even the strongest high-level monsters seldom breach 2/5 of the initial LP despite requiring far more resources to use, results in a swarm of monsters becoming the fast way to inflict 8000 damage.

I seriously think the game would be a lot more balanced if they were to just reduce the ATK and DEF of all monsters by 1000. No, I don't know exactly how to convert monsters that currently have under 1000 ATK, but I do know that increasing the ratio of strong monsters' ATK to weak monsters' ATK would stop swarm from being so fundamentally disproportionately powerful, encouraging a wider variety of strategies and stopping big monsters' costs from being so prohibitive.

XX-Saber Faultroll and Gottom's Emergency Call made them broke.

So yeah.

lolno

If anything' date=' GEC keeps them from being even more broke.

Blame Darksoul!

Actually, both of those would be true. It's both a +1 X-Saber Monster Reborn and the ultimate side against them.

I was playing around with that idea before. 1000 would be the new 2000, and essentially everything would be halved. But 1-Tributes would have attack equal to 1500 and the such in order to make their summoning sought after.

Another issue is that low level monsters have come to surmount ridiculous effects that ignore the need to Tribute.

I've got to say, I really agree with this. The increased value of LP might also make a couple burn/heal cards more viable.

This is indeed true. The same thing happened in Magic, where cheap spells became so powerful that it was said that any card costing more than five mana basically needed to single-handedly win you the game or it wasn't worth running. Magic solved the problem via set rotation and improved card design; Yu-Gi-Oh!, sadly, has no set rotation and no intention of improving card design.

So swarming does Life Point damage faster than tribute Summoning...

Maybe one should multiply the ATK and DEF values of all monsters by 2, then divide by (13 minus its Level). And round to the nearest one. It would cause Level 12 monsters to be ridiculously ridiculous, as well as having a bunch of unforeseen problems, but works fine for at least Level 8 and lower.

Are you people implying Yugimonz should be played with more LP' date=' but don't want to admit you're implying it?

I explicitly stated that the purpose was to increase the ratio of big monsters' ATK to small monsters' ATK.

That would be something Konami'll have to take care of in the future...The values on existing cards can't be changed anymore.

What are they going to do, ban Gene-Warped Warwolf, make Normal Monsters with higher stats than BEWD, create new high-level monsters whose stats vastly outstrip all existing high-level monsters, and increase the starting Life Point value? This isn't a problem that can be solved without a massive overhaul to the entire state of the game.

and if they did set rotate, they would have to re-print or re-make a lot of basic cards too.

and if they started to rotate now, then the problems we have wouldn't be fixed for a while still.

anyway, every X-saber I've faced couldn't withstand my citadel deck. I wouldn't call them broken by a long shot. a set of book of moon and bottomless (with the third being T.T) and they fell apart. just remember to chain to the summons and your fine.
