Ed, Edd and Eddy Purgatory Theory

There’s a theory that interprets Ed, Edd and Eddy’s entire cast of kids as all being dead and living in a purgatory of an eternal childhood cycle (originally an eternal summer, but then they started going to school), thusly the complete lack of any adult agents in the purgatory.

They’re are a number of explanations for their deaths, ranging from an explosion due to a gas-leak in the neighborhood to apocalyptic ones such as nuclear explosion or the spread of a deadly disease that killed most of middle-America.

Another theory suggests that the kids in the cul-de-sac are dead children from the neighborhood, each from different times (Johnny and Rolf from the 40’s, Kevin from the 90’s, Naz from the 60’s, Jimmy from the 00’s, and so on).

Originally, it was supposed to be an eternal summer with the final episode of the Eds being old. However, many fans wanted more Ed, Edd, n Eddy. This is when they made a season to put the Eds along with the rest of the cast in school. Then the Ed Edd n Eddy Big Picture Show shows the Eds and everyone else being released from their purgutorial states by actually leaving the Cul-De-Sac and adventuring across the Country (and showing us Eddy's older brother). My estimation is that we the fans control their Purgutorial existence, wanting to see more until we wanted them to do something else. We the fans made a promise to the entire cast of the show if you take this movie quest and break your limits, we will allow your eternal rest. and that is why there is no more Ed, Edd, n Eddy.

Idiot.

You do realize people have too much time?

As a example, you.

You have freetime to go on YCM.

People who have free time like to spend it on things.

In this case, someone decided to create a none-validated theory on the show.

So please, stfu.

This is someone's theory.

Would you like me to disprove your (Insert god/s and or savior) and prove that (insert religion) is a fake?

I be Athiest. Your arguement has no effect.

Meh.

Oh well.

But still.

Would you try to disprove the theory of the Big Bounce?

Or the theory of the Big Freeze?

Saying that a man is over thinking how the universe would end or start?

Just allow these theories to exist and think nothing of them.

Their just food for thought. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's called an imagination. Get over it.

Most theories usually have this little thing called proof behind their claims. This just sounds like random garbage pulled out of thin air.

What's the proof that the kids are dead? What's the reasoning behind the gas leak or apocalypse theory of death? What's the reasoning behind each kid being from a different time era?

Their personalities might have to do with the decade placement, the kids being dead is because they never aged even though the show ran for years. The series was originally supposed to end when the Eds realized that the whole series was just their memories from 80 years before. This was mentioned a few posts ago.

The time era one is easy to explain. Just look at each character. Each one fits in a different period perfectly. Like, Rolf doesn't seem to make sense being a place with technology as it is, ect.

The rest, I have no idea how they got to that conclusion.

1: Explain "decade placement". And no, you dont get off with one or two example. Explain it for all 12 characters. At the very least, explain it for the majority of the characters. If you can't, your theory holds no water.

2: Kids not aging doesn't mean they're dead. Simpsons, Charlie Brown, Power Puff Girls, South Park, and even decent anime examples like Pokemon. It's a common, pretty much staple of Western Children's Animation. The kids are Not Allowed To Grow Up

3: [Citation needed] for that last one. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing something like, the show is actually just one big flashback and it takes place in the 50's or something.

Firstly, Rolf comes from a foreign country. They've said it very many times.

Secondly, I didn't ask for etc etc. Specifically, all the characters. Name what time period they all come from, if 'each one fits [...] perfectly'.

This is the reason for those dates stated above is here below.

In short, the Cul De Sac is a purgatory for children of the earthly Cul De Sac who died before their time. Rolf was the first, him and his family were immigrant shepherds, he was gored by a bull, which is why, as much livestock as he always has in his purgatory home, there are never any cattle (Died very early 1900s). Next is Jonny, he moved after Rolf, but the neighborhood was still developing, so there were no other children for him to play with, so he became a loner with Plank, his imaginary friend, and spent most of his time wandering. He caught a disease, and died imagining Plank comforting him by his side, and so he carried Plank into the afterlife (Died early 1920s). Third was Eddy, during the age of the Great Depression, he became obsessed with money, and began swindling others in attempt to get some cash, he drowned crossing a river in escape from someone chasing him after he was caught (Died late 1930s). Next was Ed and Sarah, they were caught up in the troubles of WWII, and their father died in the war, because of which, Sarah got an aggressive, take charge attitude to try and hold together their disjointed family, and Ed just completely detached himself from reality, they died in a car crash in the early 1950s. Nazz was next, daughter of two hippies in the 1960/1970s, she was beautiful and very funloving, in the late 1970s, her and her family were brutally murdered, and because of which, her parents are never even briefly mentioned the entire series, as she tries to block out their horrific death. Next is Edd, born in the 1980s, the age of greed, his parents were very highly controlling, forcing him to become very studious. He loved to experiment, and died from a gas leak. Because his parents were so controlling, he even finds written messages from them in the afterlife. Kevin was next, born late 1980s into a broken home, developed a thick skin and abrasive personality, beaten to death by his father in the late 1990s, carried his tough guy persona onto the afterlife. Jimmy was last, born with leukemia, always very weak and sickly, his parents sheltered him from the world, he had no friends, and finally died in the very early 2000s. The Kanker Sisters are theorized to be the daughters of demons, succubae, put there to further tortured the troubled souls, they have the uncanny ability to appear out of nowhere, and take a liking to the "Eds" because they sense that they are the weakest souls, easiest to corrupt, with one being greedy, one blocking the world out to the point of idiocy, and the third scared to disobey. None of the neighborhood children like the Sisters.
