When this card is Tribute Summoned, randomly discard 1 card from your opponent's hand. If the discarded card was a Monster Card, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the Level of the monster x 100.

Hand control is so hilarious.

It fits the theme of the Monarchs gaining advantage from being Tribute Summoned, but unlike the others, which aim for field advantage, Thestalos hits the hand. Hand Control is a very powerful tactic, which makes this better than Granmarg, and in most cases, Kuraz.

Your comparing Thestalos to Granmarg and Kuraz?

imo, i rate Granmarg higher than Dirg..
frankly its easy to see why...
at least granmarg doesnt help your opponent in any way...
Edit: the reason i rated derg higher then granmarg is because he's a dark spellcaster who's efect can also activate when ssed and can be used to help speed your deck up
tho not to the point where you would run him...

I always rated Granmarg as the worst (Dirge may be an exception) because it has to pick a facedown card. Zaborg, Raiza, Caius, and Mobius can be faceup or facedown card(s), and Thestalos hits the hand. Kuraz has uses as a draw engine and can be interesting. Granmarg can pick a Spell/Trap or Monster, but it must be facedown, so I always considered it inconsistent compared to the others.

Well, thats true. Caius and Raiza do what all the other Monarchs can do (barring Mobius) but better.
hence they are infinitely better.

Granmarg is good because it has potential to be good.
The draw engine that Kuraz employs requires alot of set-up and execution and is often inconsistent,
plus not being able to attack that turn can hurt.

But, when you compare it to the more used Monarchs, their all pretty bad.

Granmarg is superior to Dirg just because I used it to take out some kid's Solemn Judgment once when I was little. Good times.

Thestalos - my old FIRE deck (lol) vs. Exodia Stall. I summoned Thestalos and took one random card from my opponent's hand. It was Exodia the Forbidden One.
