Playable God Cards?

Recommended Posts

I think the reason why they don't print Slifer already is because it almost "needs" a nerf to be tournament legal. Even if it is just "This card cannot be Special Summoned" they would invoke the wrath of the Yugi and Atem fanbase. Super Mega Ultra Chicken was cooked in battery acid before being served to us, its that bad.

the effects they all shared were
All three Egyptian god cards share these similar effects:

* Each card requires a Tribute of 3 monsters in order to be Summoned from your hand to the field.
* They are unaffected by the effects of Spell, Trap and Effect Monster Cards unless the effect is to switch their battle position or increase or decrease their ATK or DEF points, in which case they are affected for one turn.
* Control of the cards on the field cannot change. However, they can switch possession while not on the field.
* Only chosen duelists linked to the ancient past may control a god card.
* When in defense position, they can block an attack or effect targeting another monster on their controller's field and become the target.
* If they are Special Summoned from the graveyard, they are returned to it at the end of the turn.

Obelisk would have actually been amazing if he was Dark. *sigh*

On Topic: These will never be banned. In fact, the effect versions of the cards were made so that the cards could be played legally albeit their effects are really watered down.

If something requires me to use three tributes to summon it, it has better be worth it either by -'ing my opponent to equal out the -3ness or provide some superior advantage.

Too bad it's konami's thing to stick with bad card decisions because I would love to see a massive errata for the Wing Dragon of Ra.

My take on Ra's true effect:
You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps, and Effect Monster effects cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Spells, Traps or Effect Monsters. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. The ATK and DEF of this card is equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the monsters you Tributed for the Tribute Summon of this card. Only this card's original owner can declare an attack with this card or activate it's effects. If this card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard this card gains the following effects: 1) Once only, you can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left, to have this card gain ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid. 2) You can pay 1000 Life Points to select and destroy 1 card on the field.
My take on Obelisk's True effect(It's not far from the TCG):
You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps, and Effect Monster effects cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Spells, Traps or Effect Monsters. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. This card cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. You can Tribute 1 monster to have this card gain ATK equal to the the Tributed monster's ATK. You can Tribute 2 monsters to destroy all monsters your opponent controls and inflict 4000 damage to your opponent's Life Points. This card cannot declare an attack the turn this effect is activated.
My Slifer wish effect:
You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps, and Effect Monster effects cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Spells, Traps or Effect Monsters. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. When your opponent Summons a monster(s), decrease its ATK or DEF by 2000, depending on its Battle Position; if the ATK or DEF of the Summoned monster(s) is 0 after this effect resolves, destroy the monster(s).
The above effects would please everyone, I'm sure. These wouldn't even touch the metagame and nobody would complain. I also would like to see them printed as Red, Yellow and Blue on the front like to originals.

Slifer

Ra is poorly made.. In fact, it deosn't make any sense .. It has "?" ATK points and that "?" is undefined. It says that you CAN pay blah blah to give him that much ATK, but what if I don't?? What its ATK then?

EDIT: there is a big difference between "?" ATK and this "monster's ATK is" ... and "0" ATK and "this monster gains X attack.."
EDIT 2: regarding the artworks: Ra looks cool and doesn't look like a chicken anymore and Obelisk is kinda broken.. it needs a cool background ..

I could only see Ra being effective early on, and only if you have the proper backup (like a counter Trap or two). Obelisk is definitely the more effective of the two, but he's still vulnerable to non-targeting effects.

I don't think I'd ever have a reason to run either of these cards. I hope Slifer gets good treatment.

Didn't they release each OCG god in like January of each of the past 2 years? By that pattern, this year should be Slifer's.
IIRC, this year's one is confirmed to be the random Machine Emperor Boss dude.

Then its ATK is whatever you want it to be. Obv.

? ATK sucks, since it's not 0. There is currently one card that supports monsters with ? ATK. Absolutely no prize given to the person who comes up with it...
