What is it with 9 > Year olds and god cards?

At my locals today, I happened to witness the single most *Pathetic* card(s) ever. Yup, those so called "Egypitian god cards." Why? THEY ARE BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS at the top of your deck, and they arn't even tornement legal. Not only is Slifer incorrectly named(It should be Osiris) but thier true attack values are printed as XXXX or ????, minus Tormentor. A variable unsigned is 0, correct? Since there is nothing in the description to say about the effects, the variables for ATK/DEF are unsigned, making them 0.

 

Conversation I had during a game:

I had Stardust Dragon and Brionac on the field. The other guy had Ra and Osiris(Sorry, calling it Slifer is like calling Konami Upperdeck) In his hand.

 

Me: Your go.

Him: I'll play Slifer, It has 5000 ATK because I have 5 Cards in my hand.

Me:Slifer is vanilla. 0ATK/0DEF.

Him: No it isn't. The effect in the cartoon(It's a anime...) says so.

Me:If everything that happened in the anime happened In real life we'd be riding on Motorcycles playing card games inside Purple fire.

Him: I don't remember that happening...

Me: 5D'S.

Me: besides, It IS Vanilla, [Divine-Beast] Not [Divine-Beast/Effect]

Him: I'll have my Slifer attack your Brionac.

Me: -2300 for you. That's the game.

Him: No -2700 for you!

Me:Fine...

Him:Your turn.

*Gets De-synchro*

*Plays Trap, destroys Slifer and attacks directly, wins teh game*

Anyone got a CLEAR awnser? Slifer technicially doesn't mention it's effect so, It's 0 ATK/0 DEF untill it does.

You can't even run Slifer.

The card cannot be played regardless because it has no effect and is not specified to a card-color-type.

I know he shouldn't have been running it in the first place. I just didn't want to annoy the guy. The only rule he understood was release summon.

For the record, Original-Print Slifer uses the World Champ/Tagforce effect:

You must offer 3 Tributes to Tribute Summon this card. The ATK and DEF of this card becomes the number of cards in your hand x 1000. When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monster effects. Additionally, when your opponent successfully Summons or Flip Summons a monster with 2000 DEF or less, it destroys that monster.

(The wiki only lists the Wc08 effect as the most recent, and I'm too lazy to copy the Wc10 one from my DS)

Pretty much its ALMOST the same as the anime, except you need to run a few more non-targeting effects.

 

So until we get a Kazuki version of Slifer, the above effect is the one it uses.

....Or at least its the one everyone can agree on.

My problem is that "X" is a unsigned variable. It could be anything. And I have a Issue with Seal Of Oric[Whatever]

You control a back row of monsters that cannot be attacked while a monster is in the front row. Send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to negate and destroy any card. Way to scare the s*** out of children, Konami. Of course, It doesn't work. Science has once again proven that trading cards cannot cause strange effect.

In yugimonz, an "X" is the same as a "?"

It just means you cant grab it from the deck with cards like Sangan.

 

Also, only Konami judges uses the Seal card.

Its not serious, obviously, but its more for laughs really.

we need to get off on other people's competence to make us feel better because we aren't secure about our own skills as a yugioh player. But yeah, we do need another thread. The next one should be how Winged Dragon of Ra can't be special summoned and that's why Obelisk is so much better.

1: You should have pointed out the "this card can not be used in a duel" thing to him.

 

2: You should stop dueling 9 year olds. The only possible excuse you could have would be that this was for a tournament, and even then you should have just called a deck check right then and there and won.

 

3: The kid has better taste then you. He watches the original series and you watch crap like 5D's.

 

4: Your opponent had 3 monsters on the field, 5 cards in hand, and you want us to consider you're the better duelist here? lol
