Number 44 also functions as a Number support, which suggests it'll get used again.

From the wiki overview of the duel, I'm actually really impressed by Mach's deck. Just the style of it seems really interesting, and partially competitive compared to the standards of most decks used in the anime.

Le Gasp! Yuma using a non Hope wait a minute, when Yuma used Alanthal, he didn't use the part of its effect that involved equipping Numbers. Granted he used it, and that all we care about..... It IS a Rank 4 so yeah, we probably will see it again some day.

Well, Number 44 having Hope's Summon conditions could mean he might play it in the future. But he has so much Hope-related combos and such with Rank-Up Magic and so on that this seems unlikely in the near future, anyway.

Well, with Atlanthal, he didn't have any Numbers in the Grave at the time. And yeah, we were just overjoyed he played Volcasaurus and Atlanthal (and Black Mist) in a Duel instead of Hope/C39/C39-V as always.

Because seriously, the dumb kid needs to use other Numbers.

Yeah. He's used 9 Numbers out of 56 ( counting manga ones ). 39, 17, 50, 12, 34, 22, 6, 61, and 96. Though looking at Fran Ken, Black Corn, Volca, and Atlanthal, at least Yuma's using some of his better/broken Numbers.

But now Yuma has at least 3 Numbers he could summon for the same amount it takes to summon Hope....

What's the third? I'm not convinced with the belief Number 8 is generic in the anime. Every time it was Summoned, it used 2 Heraldic Beasts. And Number 50 isn't known if it's in the anime.

Master Key Beetle. Also, I think Durbe will pull an Aporia on us.

It's possible they could be Varians if you look at all the evidence under that light.

-Tron believed Shark was the ideal assassin to take out Dr. Faker, evidently even over himself and his sons, all of whom had gained Varian power from their crests.

-Shark was the first character to receive a Number (17) within seconds of Numbers entering the world. He also managed to wield Number 30 without real negative downsides other than it killing him through its damage effects. He also managed to hold off Number 32 for a while and is now capable of wielding it and C32 without any downsides.

-Tron's plan to awaken Shark's darkness involved hurting Rio with a card almost certainly given Varian power. Since then, Rio has had Varian-related premonitions of unexplained origin.

-Durbe seems to have a lot of respect for Shark because he's similar to who I presume is one of the two missing Varian lords (Nasch and Merag). Think about that a moment. TWO missing Varian lords, and Shark resembles one in personality/resolve. His sister has a connection to Varian events.

If you look closely, Nasch's hair greatly resembles Shark's hair.

Wat. Nasch was just revealed to be Durbe last week.

Never mind, late to the party. Oops, sorry.

It's plausible, I guess,

Durbe used the name "Nasch" as an alias. It actually belongs to one of the missing Varian lords. Which makes some sense, considering the other Varian lords (Vector excepted) used their ACTUAL names in their human forms, and Shark/Yuma/Astral would know it'd be him if he called himself Durbe.

I'd be interested in how they'd justify it if it was the case. Shark and Rio clearly have memories of their past, and seemingly no memories associated with Varians. Although it's more likely the missing lords would be their parents...

I just figured a name like Merag could be female. Then again, none of the Varians have been female yet.

Well, that'd make sense, I guess.

Speaking of Varians... What ever happened to the theory that Kaito and family were Varians?

It was dropped when we learned that Dr. Faker is from Earth, but he gained access to Varian power by making a deal with Vector.

I must have missed that from not watching subbed episodes.

Probably. During the Duel with Dr. Faker, it was revealed his motivation was to help Haruto, and he believed Haruto required power from the Varian world to keep him alive. Vector said that if Dr. Faker gathered all the Numbers and destroyed the Astral World, Haruto would recover, but if he didn't, Vector would claim Haruto. Dr. Faker lost all his will to continue the Duel at this point, so Vector possessed him.
