What Happened to Yugioh/YCM!?!?!?!? '08-'11??

Sup Guys!

Mods or whatever your called now i didnt exactly know where this would fit but TCG sounded good.

 

Many of you may or may not remember me, but i used to be a very active member on the forum having completed 3 sets of over 300 cards and was previously working on but never finished my last set Volcanic Inferno. I just started recently sorta getting back into yugioh after cleaning out my closet and finding my old cards. I decided to check back on the website and man was i surprised! What freakin happened!? I knew there would be changes to the game and website but come on now!!

 

So since ive been gone (since idk August 2008 at latest) i have several questions about the website and the game it self. Dont make fun of my questions or anything, i mean come on now i was gone for over 3 years :P

 

Yugioh TCG ?s:

1.What the heck is a Synchro/Tuner monster?!?! How do you summon?

YGO has changed drastically and even more complicated. I stopped playing/collecting as soon as the 2008 Starter deck came out with Junk Synchron and yea so very begginging of 5Ds.

 

2. Are holos even worth anything anymore!?

I tried checking up on the new sets and now there selling packs of cards with only holos in them. 3 supers and a secret? What the heck!

 

3. What are good/new sets out now?

Last set i remember is Light of Destruction with all the lightsworns. I remember Gladiators Assualt, Phantom Darkness, and Enemy of Justice when Dark Armed Dragon and Lightsworn Dragon were the SHIZZZ and worth over 1-250$! Now there only worth less than $30.

 

4. Has most card price values gone down?

I see holos and all good cards from back then all at less than $1.

 

5. What are the good cards and what not now?

Ive seen all thes crazy card names like Nordic Names and what not. Ive seen people talk about Trishula and Shi En? What makes these cards so great?

Ive looked around and noticed most people i talked to arnt around anymore i think. I remember Kale and his awesome fan fic! Along with The Aeon Clock, The Touma Spirit and who could forget TyrantKing10!

 

 

If you guys can PLEASE explain on some of these questions, that would be a HUGEEEE help. I really would like to get back in the swing of things for i loved doing this stuff during my childhood!!!

Ive been really busy with high school stuff, painting, and girls :P My 17 bday is in 2 days so excited! I havent had much time over the summer or school year for a childrens card game hahah but please help! Thanks!!!

1) A Synchro monster is a new (not anymore) type of monster, similar to Fusions in that it goes into the Extra Deck. To Summon, you need to send a Tuner and non-Tuner monsters from your field whose total levels equal the Synchro monster's level. Some Synchros have further requirements. A Tuner is just a monster that is used to Summon Synchros.

 

2) Of course they are. But the game evolved and older cards aren't necessarily worth as much anymore.

 

3) I'm going to draw a blank on this one.

 

4) Cards have been reprinted. We're all glad for it.

 

5) You'd have to see the cards themselves to understand. Trishula is a level 9 Synchro monster that when successfully Summoned, removes 1 card each from the opponent's hand, Field, and Graveyard. Shi En is a level 5 2500 Synchro that needs a Warrior Tuner and Six Samurai non-Tuner. The new Legendary Six Samurai cards from Storm of Ragnarok have given Six Samurais insane Special Summon support, as well as a Tuner. Shi En has the effect to costlessly negate the activation of 1 opponent S/T per turn.

This new YCM skin is fairly new and we had yet another update just the day before yesterday so, we are still getting used to things too.

 

As for the game.

 

Tunes:

You know how monsters have [Type/ Efect] written in them? Well, instead of the word /Efect] you'll see the word/Tuner] in some cards.

What it does is nothing really. They are just there. What they are used for is Summoning Synchros.

 

Synchros:

Now this is the important part. Synchros are white cards that go in the Extra Deck

The Extra Deck is what people used to call the Fusion Deck before. but not anymore because now there are 3 types of cards in there and not just Fusions. Also, I shall inform you that such Extra Deck (unlimited in your time) now has a 15 card limit to it.

 

To Synchro Summon, you must use 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuners (here's where Tuners are important) on your side of the field as Materials. but there is 1 condition: the combined Levels of ALL Materials must be EXACTLY equal to the Level of the Synchro Monster you want to Summon.

 

^That's the Synchro Mechanic and has been the focus of the game ever since it began.

 

You must also know, they are not the newest: the Extra Deck now also holds a new type of cards called Xyz Monsters. These cards are black.

Xyz Monsters have no Levels but something called Ranks, which are in the opposite side of the card

 

Xyz Materials must each have the a Level EXACTLY equal to the Rank of the Xyz Monster you want to get out. For example: the Rank 4 you see in that pic above needs 2 Level 4 monsters.

 

Xyz doesn't need anything special like Tuners or anything. You just need monsters that match the Levels.

Also, unlike Synchros or Fusions, Xyz Materials are not sent to the Graveyard but instead, they are stacked under the Xyz Monster.

 

 

Regarding your question about what's good or bad now, I have to tell you the pace of the game has increased but I'll leave it up to people here and to your explorations to find out what's good or bad.

Welcome to the future!!!! 3 years ago Yugioh was played on stone tablets by using the magical powers of the vaguely defined millenium items. Card games are now conducted on motorcycles (according to the show I saw last saturday morning).

 

3 cards you will very quickly become familiar with at any tournament you visit are: Reborn Tengu - Reborn Tengu - and Reborn Tengu.

Sychro using tengu, get another one.

Tribute tengu, get another one.

Opponent attacks and destroys tengu, get another one.

Bounce tengu for a card effect, get another one.

Bounce tengu while Divine Winds of Mist Valley is on the field, get another one and a second monster.

He's a summonable Malicious more or less. He is very good with synchro summoning because whenever he leaves the field another copy of him come out. He's meant to help out with Xyz summoning but he's really being abused with plants which can just about give you massive draw/synchro/Xyz power on whim. They quickly search/mill to the yard and work from the yard.

 

Since synchro materials go to the yard you can use a multitude of new/old cards to pull them out - limit reverse - call of the haunted and monster reborn - Getting around the 'once per duel' nerf on Glow Up Bulb and Spore. Then after you've synchro'd your yard full - you play Pot of Avarice and recycle broken tengu and start the entire process over again.
