Where are you politically?

We had a thread about this a very long time ago, so I'm glad the website is resurfacing. It's not the best political compass in the world, sure, but it gives you a very good idea of your relative position in the left-right and up-down spectrum. And over time, you will notice your scores changing as you take to watching more political debates and form more serious opinions on topics. Great website, I love doing these sorts of tests.

Economic Left/Right: -2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.23

Just remember that the left-right scale only deals with economic issues, not like a normal liberal-conservative left-right scale. The up-down scale better mirrors social issues, though I wouldn't consider (exactly) a social liberal to be a libertarian. There are key differences, one of them being in gun control. I side with the liberals on that, not libertarians.

Clearly I'm very liberal-to-moderate on my economic views, but I clearly have liberal (or libertarian) views for social issues. In my honest opinion, I think up-and-left would be the worst possible government ever. Not really sure where in this graph China stands, but I'm sure it's leaning up and leaning left.

In terms of what I think this country needs for the 2012 election, it would be someone who is right and down. But not many people are like that (it's a bit of a paradox), so I have too high hopes.

No, I never said there were few social issues (although, to a point, it's true).

Left in this scale means economically to the left. I don't want total regulation of the economy like many left-wingers do, but apparently Tentacruel does. I'm more down than Tentacruel, which makes sense since I'm one of the most socially liberal people on this site.

Guys, post your numbers when you get them at the end so I can compile a whole political compass of the members on YCM.

One has taken this test before and came out significantly more authoritarian (and also further to the left i.e. -10.00). On all social issues like Religion, Gay Marriage, Abortion - one answered in far-left liberal ways. One is very much an economic communist.

So one is a Far-Left Semi-Democratic Marxist.
