So I've been thinking.

The majority of the USA is against racism, right? However, there seems to be some negative feelings towards people of certain areas in the south. The term "Redneck" is sometimes used as an insult to describe someone that is possibly racist, close-minded or of low intelligence.

Now, as far as I see it, this might as well be stereotyping. What are your thoughts?

I'm not a racist. Racism is a crime. And crime is for black people[/spoiler]

OT: In the constitution, it specifically says "...all men are created equal..." Something tells me they forgot to include fine print where it says "Unless you're black, gay, female, Hispanic, Asian, Native, and pretty much anything that isn't a white Christian male that descends from Brits or Irish people."

Because a piece of paper is going to dictate how people feel?

The original plan was equality for everyone, apparently it didn't include everyone. Basically unless you're a rich white guy, you will get screwed over somehow. Especially in the very poor economic condition the country is in.

There are poor white people too. Stop bringing this issue to race. Seriously what happened to this equality you were talking about? If you really wanted "Equality" you wouldn't even acknowledge races.

Yeah but that has nothing to do with the Constitution or the feds. It's the freaking rich white people that have all the money. They're to blame! KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL! MWAHAHAHA!!!

*Heads for the hills away from Tentacruel.*

OT: Everything can be a stereotype.

My old AP U.S teacher always pointed out that when that was made and put into print (It's the Declaration btw) they mentioned that all men were in fact created equal, but that never meant you were going to be equal.

Nowadays it's just used as a joke in good humor and an appreciation of the culture. Anyone going beyond that is either blind or a fool, and it doesnt account for all of america by any margin at all. Like how I call Miror B., "Cowboy" as a term of respect even though he's pretty damn far from being one.

It's funny how you guys seem to be mixing capitalism with racism, but whatever. To the point of the OP, stereotyping a southern person a redneck is no different to stereotyping a black man a thief. Of course, I'd like to think we're past saying things like that in a negative way by now. I tend to purposely be racist to my black mate, as he knows that I'm joking... not sure if that kind of light humour is appreciated everywhere.
