El Majishan
wanted to get into magic....but I'm to used to YGO...not gonna bother learning a whole new game to suck my money away. About the "ridiculousness" that is happening in YGO....I believe that Konami is trying to simulate the over the top feel of the anime.

Dementuo
All I can say to this is that... If people think Yugioh is high-priced... The least-expensive version of Black Lotus is, at the very least, $600. What's the most a YGO card has ever costed? Pot of duality at $150. That should say something. Yankee
Order of games played: Pokemon --> Duel Masters --> MtG --> Yu-Gi-Oh! I never really stopped playing MtG. I've still enjoy it a lot. No idea why, but it's just not as big to me, anymore.

Please do your research before you start comparing any YuGiOh Card to Black Lotus in the price term.

Airride
Pokemon is the least expenisve game. Highest price of tournament legal cards is Yanmega prime at $40, but it's getting reprinted, so then the most expensive will be Pachirisu at $30. GarchompCLVX was thankfully a promo, but LuxrayGLLVX wasn't and that was like over 9000 dollars(It think like 50.) At least with catcher you an play Pokemon Reversal over it. And pachi is only is used with 1 deck. I made a semi competitive deck for $20. In YGO I'd have to go $30+.
You REALLY think Pot of Duality is the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh card of all time? Anyway, back when I played Yu-Gi-Oh IRL with a team of friends, well I'll just copypasta it (and or re-write sections of it) Let me tell you a story. About a year or two ago my friends and I all ran different decks. One friend ran Blackwings, I ran Zombies, another one ran Lightsworn, and another ran Gladiators. So, next set, Raging Battle comes out. Black Whirlwind for Blackwing guy. Not much for the rest of us. Ancient Prophecy. Shinny Black C for LS guy's side board and Vayu for Blackwing guy. Absolute Power Force, we skip. Shining Darkness we skip. DREV we quit the game. The point is that unless you're willing to ditch your old deck and play an entirely different new broken deck of the format, there's no reason to keep playing competitively. Dark Armed Return in PTDN. LS in LoDT. Tele Dark in TDGS. Blackwings in Crimson Crisis. X-Sabers in some other pack. Infernity in something else. Legendary Six Samurai next. I don't wanna spend 200 bucks per format to play the new broken deck of the now, especially after having already paid 200-ish dollars for last formats broken deck of the now 6 months ago. The entrance fee to become a competitive player is pretty high, and to stay competitive you have to continue paying the exact same amount.

Pretty sure collectors don't count towards competitive and casual play. Oh, it's the fact that YGO in general is high-priced, not individual cards. The cost of a high-end competitive deck can easily go into the £200 or dollars-equivalent.
Master White
Well, truthfully I stopped playing yugioh for a ot of reasons about year and half ago.... All in RL 1st: Noobs that though they new how to play, played in the wrongest of ways... 2nd: B/c where I live there is no one to play with 3rd: I got tired of the cost, 20 dollars a tin, omg, what in it, god...or like others, the best cards required to build a competitive meta deck are so beyond my spending limit, some equal to 100 to 300 dollars... 4th; If I do ever play again, it'll be in tournaments where I'd know I would lose b/c of everyone owning decks, mainly rich spoiled kids with the money to have a decent deck 5th: The only current build i'd have in RL would be nothing as all my cards are not useful until i have the other 20 to 120 dollar cards required for it... Main Reason: I stopped from prices and felt like just collecting now, so when yugioh goes out of business, I can sell them....or my kids if i ever have any... Hmm....I think I have tour guide of the underworld, if so, i'm so selling it.....

byak
If you latch onto expensive cards and ditch them before they fall, you should be able to pick up a new expensive deck and repeat etc, which is what I do. also, the format is okay, except for BLS. It would actually be one of the best lists recently if it weren't for BLS. additionally, you can play competitively without Tour Guide. See Karakuri, Xyz Gadget, T.G. Agent, regular T.G., etc.
mainly rich spoiled kids with the money to have a decent deck
I'm not spoiled or rich and I play Plants with basically everything problem?
