Sakuretsu Armor

Recommended Posts

I remember this being a staple run in 3.

I also remember that when Mirror Force got unbanned, it was noted that it was a good thing because back then, 3 f/ds could probably be 3 Sakuretsu at the worst and so attacking was a good idea, but with Force back, that kind of mindset was terrible.

Sakuretsu is currently outclassed by D-Prison, especially when Stardust came out.

Well, Sakuretsu and Dimensional do pretty much the same thing, get rid of an attacking threat. And yes, in most cases, banishing the monster is better than making it hit the grave. But, it's the same case as Dissipate vs Cancel in MTG. First one exiles the card, second makes it hit the grave. Like, in cases when they attack with BLS and you have Monster Reborn in grave, making the Soldier hit the grave isn't half-bad of an idea. There are very few, but there are cases where Sakuretsu is superior to Dimensional. And evilfusion, that's a stupid argument. I mean, extra decks are very cramped nowadays, and people almost always opt for Scrap Dragon instead of Stardust.

For the record, I was referring to when Stardust first came out, and people had to re-evaluate their "outs" to big monsters due to anti-destruction.

But even with Scrap Dragon, Prison is still a superior option. Neither are better if Scrap uses its effect, but if you banish Scrap, it can't SS a Scrap, assuming of course that your opponent is using Scraps at all.

Ultimately, D-Prison is just more reliable, especially against the cards that cannot be "destroyed" by card effects, or negates effects that "destroy", such as Stardust, SSD, Red Nova, etc.

lolTrivia: In the three times it has been used in the anime, it has never been successfully activated.

Had the benefit of being the cheaper option, then we got a common mirror force.

I only remember once: Jim vs Haou. Sakuretsu was stopped by Dark Fusion's effect.

That's the only time I remember it as well.

Apparently, it was set during one of the Fortune Cup games against Aki, but Black Rose nuked it.

The last time was in Crow's debut episode. The cop he OTKed had it (as well as Intercept and Dust Tornado, if I remember correctly). For some reason, I thought he had Mirror Force, not Sakuretsu.
