Stop SOPA

My honest opinion is it's unfair because one of the things it does is it makes the owner/host of the site responsible for copyright infringements meaning that the site will be taken down because at least one person committed copyright infringement. How is that unfair? IT'S TAKING DOWN AN ENTIRE SITE JUST BECAUSE A SMALL AMOUNT OF PEOPLE DID SOMETHING ILLEGAL. Instead of taking down the site, why not just take down the page of the person/people that has/have committed copyright infringement?
My only guess is because taking down the whole site is easier.

-resign patriot act
-enter libya
-sign ndaa
-etc.
-allow SOPA, which isn't practical and would crash the US and foreign market while losing US jobs, to gain momentum
-strike it down
-enjoy the plebeians' praise as you claim your second term

I find it funny that they can already do this without SOPA/PIPA.

Yea, personally I can see why they were shut down, but I do agree that unless some outrageous percent of the videos were illegal uploads killing the whole site is to much. However from what I can tell, it seems like that was the case. TBQH, never went to Medaupload all that much.

I'm surprised that you didn't use MU much FD. I was shocked when I saw it down yesterday but quickly got over it. This is the reason that I got everything in advance sorted. It was only a matter of time until these places started to get shut down. Expect Sharers like Mediafire & Rapidshare to go next.

Not necessarily, because actually there's nothing to "steal", people who pay for stuff are supposed to be free to do whatever they want with their stuff even sharing with.

Except they aren't. I'm pretty sure the terms and agreements you agree to without reading say you can't share the product. Especially since sharing a computer download is essentially making a copy for somebody.

Also a note guys, seems like Megaupload was taken down for the intentions being illegal and had nothing to do with SOPA

That's why I said "supposed", I just wanted to establish that what you call "steal" it is not, because there is nothing to steal.
And yeah megaupload was shot down due to money laundering.

Songs.
Movies.
Games.
There's plenty to steal.
Aquiring a product without proper payment or permision of the publisher is stealing.
Stop trying to justify it.

I'm not trying anything, I'm against piracy but these things are going too far, copyright violates human rights; now it's illegal to post a 30 secs vid of your own making with a song? that's ridiculous and in that case this site does violates copyright.

Which site?

If we're talking Megaupload then you're off by quite a bit.

If we're not then I got lost somewhere.

I'm just mad cause some of my fave english dubbed hentai and anime which was posted in Megavideo is gone and there isn't a single player that can play them. These include Fencer of Minerva, Buttobi CPU, new episodes of Pokemon and others.

We still have to fight. But I doubt Congress would fall for the "Blackout" attack twice.

Don't blame the US for it, blame the creators of Megaupload/video for being bad people.

I heard many Republicans have been swayed to vote against the bills, due to the "influence" of major corporations. *coughgoogle*

The law should be that each company has a right to take anything (name, product, movies, anime, ect) off a website without permission or due process if they want. This way it not only creates positions in certain companies that wish to enforce it, but allows others that enjoy the free advertising to leave it be.
