[/quote] He is distracting the guards while Starlight attempts to talk to Sniffy and plant the device, also using the chaos some rebels are collecting recruits out of the angry citizens, and uses the time to escape with them. Maybe at the first town besides Ponyville the Mane 6 reach, one of Shadow Wing's agents is stationed there, and overhear them talking about everything, and reports back to Shadow Wing. Plus, their first adventure would be finding the tracker And since Sniffy placed it somewhere to keep them off her tracks, they'll have an adventure, albeit fruitless, but they can find some means of tracing Sniffy or something, later. And therefor wouldn't try and kill Sniffy. So Morning Sun and Cresent Shadow wouldn't stop him. So there wouldn't be an uproar. So no one would get all confused.
