DARK/Machine
3000 ATK/2000 DEF
Rank 8: 2 level 8 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; place 1 String Counter on each face-up monster on the field, except this one. During the End Phase of your opponent's next turn, destroy all monsters with String Counters placed on them, and inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each monster destroyed.

And here's the card. Instead original ATK, now inflict 500 damage for each destroyed monster.

Discuss.

The nerf is worse than you guys think. What makes you think that the Opponent is going to keep any of those monsters on the field? The effect doesn't look lingering, so what makes you think THIS monster will be on the field to activate its effect?

Basically, anything this can do, Giant Killer will do better and much flashier. The only upside that I can really see is that it has 3000 freaking ATK.

Now if the effect were lingering it may be cooler, but even then it probably would only merit being ran as a beatstick with a burn effect you're probably not going to get through.

The nerf it got doesn't change any of this. You're just restating the problems the anime version would have in today's meta.
But this version has the additional problem of needing the same monsters to be on the field, not just any monster that's there.

It destroys all monsters that had String Counters during the opponent's End Phase. Isn't that what the anime did?
No, the anime effect was more like "Detach one material. At the End Phase of the next turn, destroy every other monster on the field." No string counters involved, anything that appears after the effect activates is still hit.

iirc, the text on the anime version said String Counters, though it only had one appearance in the anime and no other monsters appeared after its effect actvated

Wiki says otherwise.

...So?
Either way, your opponent has to get their current crop of monsters off of the field, or #40 does it for them, and they take damage.
How is the nerf so bad?

It's not, Aggro's just upset that it doesn't = GG, pretty much, which is rather odd given how bad OTKs are for the game.

OT: OH THANK GOD <3

I was wondering when this would come out, and the nerf is nice, not broken or worthless. Putting pressure on the opponent while threatening a Dark Hole is a good thing.

BUMPED DUE TO NEW INFORMATION.

Official Rulings say:
-The last effect of this card is a Trigger Effect.
-This card's last effect does not activate if "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet - Heavens Strings" is not face-up on the field at the opponent's End Phase.
-Destruction of the monsters with String Counters and the damage inflicted to the opponent result at the same time.
-Even if the "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet - Heavens Strings" that activated this effect leaves the field after activation, if a "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet - Heavens Strings" exists face-up on your side of the field at the opponent's next End Phase, the effect sucessfully activates.
-Even if "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet - Heavens Strings" is returned to your field after your opponent's End Phase in which the effect was supposed to activate, the effect does not activate at your opponent's next End Phase.

Or remove brainwashing so that you get the chance to burn your opponent before you do something with the golems.

Now, onto number 40.
This card became essentially garbage the second its last effect became a separate, trigger effect. Either you use Giant Killer if you want damage, Hieratic Sun Dragon if you want a beatstick and some destruction or Thunder End if you want a field wipe and a beatstick.

You could use limiter removal on it, but still... not worth it.

... Are you guys all daft?

This isn't bad at all. It puts pressure on the opponent to take care of it or spend their monsters, probably losing some advantage in the process to avoid being blown up. Safe Zone with this looks hilarious, though they can still negate it.

Things that put pressure on the opponent are GOOD.
