Hell

Discuss hell and what you think it might be like. Do you think you're going to hell ? By the way, I know it's religious but just consider it as an actual place. So no atheists/religious people shoving crap down people's throats. If you don't believe in it, just imagine it as if it was real. I think it would be a cold deserted landscape to truly emphasize the feeling of empty isolation. That is true hell. But your opinion matters as well.

I think hell doesn't exist. I think we live on Earth until we die, and then we wake up in Heaven

To put it simple: this is all a dream, IMO.

So all in a big group dream ? Interesting. So are we all dead or were we born there ? Is the Earth on our dreams similar to the real one ? Sorry for the questions, this theory interests me.

Who knows? Maybe we're all just asleep at a random time in our real life, maybe we're just being born this all being a figment of our imagination.

OK, do you have any opinions on the topic at hand or we will simply discuss philosophical theories ?

I've played God of War enough times to kno-- *gets shot*

I imagine hell is just as described (because of my own personal religious beliefs) in the Bible. A fiery pit of "get me out of here".

My theology is rusty, but iirc, the "lake of fire" is a different place than hell (or possibly within hell), but either way, it is specifically for Satan.

I like Hironymous Bosch's version.

EDIT: Not hell, it's Mexico.

I'll take the notion of hell as a very bad place for bad people. A lot of problems with this one: 1) Like most afterlives, I just don't. Both Christian Hell and Heaven are simply spiritual incentives to be good to receive good and punish evil with evil. Bulls*** religious control, pretty textbook. 2) Should such a thing exist, how would it determine good and evil, based on the religion of the person? His/her proper religious deeds? His/her proper moral deeds? His/her net worth he/she made on the world? It's all too vague and insanely biased.

After that, I'd say in absolute generic sense... no, I wouldn't go to hell. I'm taking that it's based on a bell curve and I'm in the upper 50% of people morally.

Hell is a place where gay marriage is rampant, illegals have our jobs, our soldiers cut and run, the liberal media and public schools indoctrinate our children into the liberal way of thinking, and the terror alert level is always red...red as in COMMUNIST!

What if I say, this universe is nothing but the dream of a supernatural and immortal Eldrich Abomination? A mindless deity that lives in its own world, sleeping forever with countless alien flute players playing tunes to keep it from awaking?

...Yeah...

OT: I honestly think that if people die, they turn into nothing. Sorta like in Death Note.

y'all realize that you don't go to heaven (in the christian sense) by doing good deeds or by being a good person, right? (unless you're catholic, I guess).

The topic is Hell, not religion or Heaven. At least make an effort to be on topic while making off topic comments.

How can I go to this "Hell" pla*shot*
Oh god, that was oxymoronic.
Yeah, honestly, the idea of hell bothers me. A lot. I could go into the religious aspects of why this is, but that would turn this thread into a hellhole, no pun intended.

Raine and the guy with the stupidly long name who posted after Raine both referred to hell/heaven being (and expicitly the christian heaven/hell in Raine's comment, although I think it was implied in the other guy's too) incentives for good/bad behavior/that's how you get into heaven/hell. Which...isn't accurate. It was in reply to those two posts.

And since hell is intrinsically tied into heaven (if we agree that hell, by definition, is some form of place "bad" people go, which then, by logic, means there must be a place "good" people go), I don't see how one can cull out discussion of heaven when discussing hell.

So yeah, I agree with people using Heaven and Hell as incentibves for rewards for their faith but I just think that if either one would exist, something tells me hell would be the one. But I do agree with Vairocana on that if we have to discuss hell, we have to at least mention heaven but I would prefer to keep on topic. Also Darkplant's comment made me laugh. Maybe we are the dreams of a giant creature and in that sense, hell would be eternal nothingness while watching the suffering of those already alive.

The topic is the physical layout of Hell, in your mind. I see no need for the mention of Heaven at all, unless it is "the opposite of" which most competent people already know, so stating it would be pointless. Hell and Heaven are connected, but only one is the topic of this thread. So add to the topic before branching into connecting thoughts, not a difficult task.

Also if you plan to have a post replying to another, quote it, like you did with mine. Its only proper.
