The idea was solid, yes, and it did work a little too well, but... I say it's good for the game to be able to drop something like Exa-Beetle, use the effect, and then switch it out for something stronger that 1000 ATK. It's a 2600 Piercer with no other effect, doesn't rely on Xyz Material in any form, and it's a Rank 7 so it's unlikely to be Summoned by its default condition, and can use a Rank 5 or 6 instead, which is a perfectly fine investment. Except it nullifies Atum's downside intended to balance its OPed effect, replacing a 2400 that can't attack with a 2600 Piercer that CAN attack, plus netted you any Dragon from your Deck. -Berserker- Posted June 7, 2012 Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 The fun thing is that you can summon this with 2 of any Gaia the Fierce Knight, Gaia the Dragon Champion or Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight; and also with an Xyz made of Gaia Knight the Force of Earth. I suppose, if they make a Ritual version of Gaia, it will be a lv6, to give Force of Earth a pair, and will either be a vanilla beatstick or have an effect similar to Emeral, Justi-Break or Non-Spellcasting Area. The other Gaia fusion also wants some love, but it is ok by itself. If I ever get this one, I'll build my Dragon Champion deck IRL, and will be the most awesome thing ever. Take the case of ExaBeetle, the removal effect you get (which "sends" getting around Zenmaines , Stardust, Maestroke, Gachi), was balanced out by the fact it had 1000 ATK. No longer, you get the removal effect, and have 2600 ATK trample to followup. The trample effect doesn't require XYZ materials so you can use all those "detach XYZ material" cards and not feel bad about it. You can stack on top of existing XYZ monsters and make Pot of Avarice live for no effort. Worst of all, you can steal XYZ monsters with Mind Control and Enemy Controller and overlay, just like we did with Chaos Ray a few months back. You can revive with COTH, Monster Reborn and still get the trample effect (XYZs are supposed to have no effect without material!)[/quote] Read this on DGz, and have to say it covers everything I would say about it and more. [/quote] Hoenstly, that's my exact stance on it. It takes away a lot of balance in the game and promotes new OTKs, ruining cards like Volcasaurus and Exa-Beetle that were, otherwise, balanced. This card needs an alt art with lightning bolts and slave women clinging to the dragon, screaming in ecstasy to Gaia's manly charisma. Seriously, Zexal needs a character with an 80's heavy metal look (or looks like Jagi before the mask) that summons this to [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXeKJgSlRgI"]Anthem's Eternal Warrior[/url] with a Dan Green Atem-style voice, which is an unnecessary, thunderous roar to the heavens which turns every emo sissy boy into a real man, and impregnates every woman in a 700-mile radius. The only thing that would make this card more metal is if could detach a material to treat itself as Dragon Champion because Spiral Spear Strike. Yeah, it lets you get around Volcasaurus' drawback, turning a 2500 beater that kills a monster then burns into a 2600 piercer, but...it's [b]the[/b] [b]friggin' Thunder Charger![/b] I considering trying 1 in Family Thunders, but couldn't a great reason to turn Messier 7 into this besides making a piercer to end the game when Messier 7 can just bounce whatever wall I'm trying to get over for game. Why couldn't Messier 7 have a name like[b] the Thunder Charger?[/b] Apparently, the Thunder Charger is ran in Hieratics (haven't encountered them yet). Funny how Konami releases overlooked cards that later magically see play with new sets, then, judging by the above opinions, are considered broken. [/quote]We're forgetting its most meta use atm. Chaos Dragons. Exa Beetle, equip LPD, pop some shizznip, get REDMD, revive LPD. Overlay Gaia. If you lose it later, just revive it with REDMD. [/quote] Inzektor Exa-Beetle Inzektor Exa-Stag Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja (Used up) Number 61: Volcasaurus Tiras, Keeper of Genesis (Used up) These cards are balanced on their own (Note the lack of Atum), but this and its overly generic Xyz Change take away everything that balanced them or gives them more life after their materials are used up. Not to mention you can slap it on any R5/6 if piercing damage is what you need for game. It just causes more balance issues in the game than any good it does for it. Granted, it's a very subtle way to unleash limits on cards, but a way too good one. Hieratics just happen to abuse it the most, but that doesn't mean it's fine in general. Seriously, you wanna count the ridiculous cards Hieratics have? -Hieratic Seal of Convocation -Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon -Hieratic Dragon King of Atum -Super-Dreadnought Gun Turret Train - Gustav Max -Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger It's a mess of broken cards contributing to the deck. You can't just blame Hieratics for how they abuse a card given how many cards they abuse. Gustav is in the same boat as this, a broken ass Xyz that's "not a problem, Hieratics are". AND THEN REDRUM IS THE SAME WAY, DESPITE CHAOS DRAGONS IN THE TCG. And you can't even begin to say that Convocation is short of broken, it's a damn RotA. This leaves only Atum left, and it's only COMPLETELY broken because of Gaia Dragon. It was still stupidly good without the Xyz Change, this just pushed it over and beyond. Gaia Dragon basically says "Screw what we did to balance these cards, let's give them a 2600 piercer body!" Konami knew full well that they made a broken card with this, they just can't be assed to care. No, it's not the pinnacle of problems, and it probably won't see the list soon if ever, either, but it is still a problem that is bad for the game.
