Konami are f***ing morons - YCS Sheffield

Recommended Posts
YCS Sheffield will be a very special YCS: Instead of Advanced Constructed, this event will be played as a Sealed Pack event! Duelists will receive 10 boosters Battle Pack: Epic Dawn and construct a 30-card Deck out of the cards in those packs. This way, everyone starts out with the same chances, even if they do not own a high-end Constructed Deck!
The UK gets one YCS, and this is what they make it.

Honestly, I'm only considering going because sealed play seems kinda fun, but it's annoying in that anyone that's actually put together a good deck of their own can't even use it, and leaves the entire YCS down to chance.

Oh, not to mention that Konami decided to put the entry fee on their site in Euros when out currency is the Pound. It just kinda gives the aura that they really don't give a crap about it.

Edit: oh and the article on their site is here: http://www.yugioh-card.com/uk/events/ycs_sheffield.html

He's from the UK. =/

tbh, thing that's got me interested the most is the mat that'll probably be worth a lot.

To eBay.

Also, Someone could scan the mat and print it off for people.

I think it's an awful idea because the Sealed Play format makes it so people who get luckier pulls will automatically have better Decks. There's no skill factor, realistically, because if you think about it, the majority of players going to a YCS are going to have some knowledge of the game. That said, if Player A pulls 2 Tour Guides and Player B pulls hardly anything (like I did in my Sealed Play Kit), they're automatically at a disadvantage.

I feel bad for the UK people because this is like the first one they've had in a while, and it's not even an Advanced Constructed tournament.

I'm a massive fan of sealed play since all TCGs should be able to pull it off. But, Konami are complete and utter idiots for even thinking about choosing Sealed Play for the YCS. Imen, tere is skill involved in how to draft correctly an predicting others' plays, but there is about 200 times more unneeded and unwante luck.

And seriously, euros? :s Woop, now let's be more vulnerable to the Eurozone crisis. Also, ITT: everyone lives in the USA.

God, Konami are supposed to be an international company :s

That sounds hilarious. And awful.

And also pretty difficult/impossible to avoid cheaters.

What I mean is, let's say I buy 10 or so Breaking Dawn packs before I go, crack them open, and take the cards I want to build my deck. Go the tournament, lie and say I pulled the 30 cards from my pack and make a deck that way. Unless they have cameras at the whole event (Pro-Tip: They can't. Bathrooms, leaving the area to get snacks, etc etc.) they can't prove I didn't pull them right then and there. And if they do have some way of proving they only had one DMoC in all the packs that would kind of shoot their own business practices in the foot, wouldn't it?

Even an even like this would be better than what we have in my country. Here we have no tournaments. Those with credit cards (as we don't even have Paypal) just gather together with their friends and play.
Also, an event like this would cancel the excuse of most of the people interested in starting playing around here (I have no cards for my deck).

Maybe one way the could do it is that you make your deck at registration with one of the Konami representatives so they can see that you don't slip cards in.

Registration is already a very long process. And is not helped at all if people were to casually sit down and make their decks for half an hour at registration.

I feel bad for anyone who actually took the time to build a deck in preparation for the event just to get the big finger from Konami...

Seal Pack play should only be held as a side event or at the lolocal level....an event as serious as a YCS needs to be in the advance constructed format

No one has cared about England since the Beatles.

No-one in the entirety of Europe has really cared about the Americas since ever :3

Seriously, if anyone is going, please don't convert your money into euros. Let Konami ponder at what this British Sterling Pound thing is.
Correct answer was WWII, but we'll give you half credit for that.

And they're saying Euros because they expect people from other countries in Europe, a majority of which DO use the euro, to come to this event.

If I lived anywhere else in Europe, I wouldn't pay good money to go to this.
