Just for something to do? Just to wile away the hours in the office so to speak? (Wonder how long they spent on this one... ) Strangley, I think simply 'The' would have made it sound a bit more dramatic/punchier. In the same way as 'The Black Pearl', we'd have 'The Black Corn'.
