werewolfjedi Posted September 11, 2012 Report Share Posted September 11, 2012 I went and traded some cheep staple cards for an entire deck for the hell of it, little kid wanted a lot of cards and I've always enjoyed the deck, looking through it, I felt that the kid was being silly and stupid, doing all like 1 of copy of the spell and trap support for the deck, and I just fooled around with it on the teaching time, and I started realizing how much I could actually capitalize on the ruby effect, and that got me thinking. with the field swarm it can do, what about basing the deck around a exceed summoning multi setup. their card effects really make this amazingly well done for this. one combo in particular that caught my eye was in fact one of their worst cards. funny enough. crystal counter. I blow up my entire back row, which shouldn't be much that actually matters, and fill it with crystal beasts from my grave,all the way to 5 if I can. use the field spell and summon ruby, which summons the others, to which I grab 3 pegs and a cat. grab a ruby and 2 grade 3s exceed into 3, exceed into 4, and let the last one sit. make sure I had a peg. use promise, bring the next one up, and exceed into 4 again. I use 2 cards to cause enough monster summons to make 3 exceeds in one turn. the same effect can be produced with promise on ruby, and usign blessing and tree to fill the backrow. also lets me run rare value, basically a pot of greed. so, is this kind of stuff worth basing a deck around, and if so, what should the exceed monster lineup be? You can still follow the same strategy they've always done, but they really sparkle when you get to turn them into heavy beaters. You also then actually get access to Pot of Avarice. They're predominantly Horn Targets, plenty of support and search potential, a few actually good Spell/Trap Supports, and aren't used in the way they were originally designed to be.
