Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned from your hand or deck by tributing 1 "Great Dezard" that has fulfilled the condition. Once per turn, you can flip this card into-face down defense position. While this card is face-up on the field. Negate the effects and destroy Spells or Trap cards which target this card. When this card is flipped-face up you can Special Summon 1 Zombie-type monster from your graveyard.

So, it's past 12am in the east coast, which means, its officially my birthday. So let's discuss my favorite card from the original yugioh series.

A Level 7 DARK Zombie with 2600 ATK and 2900 Def. Fusioh Richie. A monster with a unique summoning condition, which is the main thing that enthralls me about this card. Great Dezard can lich him self after he has lived long enough. (I.e, Destroying two monsters in battle.) Doing so he gives up his human-form and becomes this.

The main problem being, is that Dezard is a Spellcaster, which doesn't synergize too much with the other zombie support you'd be running. In addition hes a single tribute monster with 1900 ATK, not particularly amazing, and easy to scoff at when dropping Number 17 or other strong beaters is as easy as blinking an eye. At least with one monster defeated he gains protection from targeting spells or traps. . . which still isant much.

Successfully getting Richie out on the other hand, would be very rewarding. Being able to be easily revived once hes already hit the field once, and his own abilty to revive Plagues and Goblin Zombies to gain additional +s every turn is very nice. It procs just for being flipped, so there could be possible shaningans done to gain multiple revives in a single turn. Unfortunately, the problem still stands with Dezard him self being slow and not so great, causing you to de-synergize from the zombie path. At least with Zombie World, another card i happen to adore, hes essentially a one-sided monster reborn, every turn.

At anyrate, Discuss this card, his former-self and about his interesting summoning mechanic.

Richie has Spell/Trap Target-immunity, can revive other Zombies once-per-turn, 2600/2900 is strong, you can even Reborn him after hes destroyed(Assuming you actually Summoned him).
NOW COMES THE MAIN PROBLEM~
Dezard is flat-out mediocre, and has to survive for way too long to actually make any difference on his own.

Great Dezard + Orichalcos + Diffusion Wave-Motion = Profit?
You can throw in Ojama Trio if you are not sure you'll kill your opponent's monsters.

Late Happy b-day, I swear I saw a b-day cake as Google's logo last night btw o.O"

Diffusion is for level 7 or higher :( +you'd be force to run cards that don't synergize to well with the rest of your zombie army >_<

And Thanks ^^ Yeah, i saw it as a birthday cake just a few minutes ago.

Ups.

Well, then... *thinks*....
You could, attack normally the first time, and get this during your opponent's turn:

Rackin my brains here

Not that I am familiar at all with this card

I personally LOVE the fact The Great Dezard is a Spellcaster with 1900 ATK, because it makes him easily summonable with Magician's Circle. Which is a trap card, and can be activated in the Battle Phase, which gives Dezzie a chance to attack.

The problem being, 1, it's still 1 kill away from Richie

and 2, it's still a hassle to get a good mix of Spellcasters that do well with Zombies

I can only think of fodder-Spellcasters

Like Magician's Apprentice, to attack and activate Magician's circle,

Then have something like, Windstorm of Etaqua ready to change all monster's battle positions (which would also change Dezzie, which is good since he can survive a bit better that way anyway)

...yeah I suck at Yugioh~
