Discuss.
Gαr
Its sad, really.
Just Crouton
Well, to be fair, they do have some reason to dislike Pokemon's concept. Capturing animals and making them beat the crap out of other animals for human entertainment (or whatever they do now) is...well...inhumane. Frankly, I'm surprised the anime continued after the first movie's in-universe revelation that maybe it's a bad thing to train and order animals to kill each other. Darth Revan of the Sith
I couldn't care less if you are shoving pikachu down a garbage shoot. I like that game so screw PETA. Never liked them anyways.
Spenсe
They're fictional creatures in a fictional world... How exactly is it sending a wrong message to children and under what proof? What, are kids gonna go out and catch wild animals in little balls? Sounds like a bunch of idiots with a lot of time and money on their hands. Wave_Sine
This is copyright infringement, libel and possibly trademark violation. Nintendo/Game Freak honestly should sue. Also, the games themselves already sort of touched on this issue. Why else would the sprites for Team Rocket Grunts in R/B/Y/FR/LG have whips?
Team Rocket didn't have whips in FR/LG. Tamers did however. Which makes it worse somehow. Also, did they ever consider how dangerous Pokemon are? We've got giant murdering machine bees, for Arceus' sake.
Tentacruel
You can protest whatever you want, but when you deliberately misinterpret something just to get attention, that's f***ing low. PETA is also using violent imagery just to increase shock value. They can rot in hell.
Legend Zero
I really don't see the problem with pokemon, considering almost every game has the message of "being friends with your pokemon unlocks the greatest power".
bury the year
I find it creative and kinda hilarious, actually. The whole "let's skin the otter because people use their pelts" thing? Perfect! ...not that this is a good idea or anything.
Legend Zero
http://features.peta.org/pokemon-black-and-white-parody/ link to the peta game if anyone is interested. (there is no stab in this game. )
.Rai
I seriously want to spite the designer who actually did this: as a part of an industry constantly plagued by copyright, someone from the industry shouldn't be helping it happen (in an insanely over-the-top annoying completely disgusting way). Besides, they seem to be always misinterpreting how shock value works. Admittedly, it was a fun game. Ahem.
~British Soul~
I saw this game yesterday and I find the game is stupid but hilarious (i.e. the custom pokemon cards)
This is copyright infringement, libel and possibly trademark violation. Nintendo/Game Freak honestly should sue.
I agree with you there.
Shradow
PETA is, like, supporting Team Plasma or something, right? Do they know Team Plasma wanting to free Pokemon is just a front for world domination, and that their leader is an evil man who abuses Pokemon for his own gain? ~British Soul~
Imo, these are like the best pokemon cards ever:
ListenToLife
That ash ketchum card made me chuckle. XD But it's kinda stupid, methinks. PETA's once again been a bit of an idiot, and to be honest, Nintendo should sue. I'd fine it hilarious. They could sue about the Mario game at the same time. Lt. Colonel Remo
This thoroughly angers me to my core I LITERALLY grew up on Pokemon Those PETA bastards can take an iron tail to the face I had to watch the opening theme on repeat to cleanse myself

The Dark Knight
Ah yes, this. I believe the appropriate response to PETA is clearly outlined in this video:

.Spock
It made me chuckle. I'm actually happy that PETA did this. Next to no one outside of the Pokemon game industry is taking it seriously as far as I know, and Pokemon fans are retaliating. PETA are also liable for suing so no worries there, and the custom cards they made are also pretty entertaining to look at.
