Mehmani
In a very interesting turn of events, the next moderator of Custom Cards will likely be decided by popular vote. I feel that an issue of such magnitude and significance warrants discussion outside the ruling class of this site. So have at it. What do you think will happen and why? Not-so-Radiant Arin
Well...it always comes down to who's most popular anyway. The more important thing is that s*** gets done.
Gαr
Most of the most active card makers are inexperienced with how exactly YCM works. Though, I personally think Sora or Maxx seem like logical choices.
Aerion Brightflame
Pretty much whoever is most popular and most respected around the site is likely to get the job. Becuase thats pretty much how democracy works, whoever is the most liked gets the power. As for improving the section, so long as someone who gives a damn about the site gets the job, then improvements should be made. The foundations are there, they just need fine tuning. Also, this seems far fetched, but if it is coming down to public vote, then what if someone creates enough alts to win it? Its far-feteched that anyone would bother attempting that, but has any steps been taken to prevent that? (this is just for my own self curiosity)
FTW (For The Wynn)
I remember Zanda, Striker and Neo all being interested in the moderator position. Any one of them would be fine imo as long as they stay active.
Mehmani
The reason I'm doing this is because I trust the RC community to vote with their heads. We are an articulate and intelligent bunch, remember. We vote on policy, not popularity.
ihop
Has there ever been a mod that was not made a mod after a bunch of people said said person should be a mod?
Sander
Looool, if it comes to public votes, then I'm pretty much screwed. Anyways, there aren't enough people in RC who know us, the candidates, well enough to actually cast a proper vote in my opinion, except a handful of people. ihop
TBQH if it came for a vote and I could vote for anyone I would probably vote Chance as he seems knowledgable, mature and active like few other.
.Leo
I don't know anybody who could possibly moderate this section. I don't spend as much time in it as I used to. Honestly, I have no clue who I would vote for because of the exact reason above, but I can only hope that the person who gets 'elected' actually knows what they are doing. Catterjune
It sounds good in theory but actually pretty crumby in practice. Letting the population voice their concerns and listening to what they have to say is all well and good, but letting them have final say is no good. Most of the time the popular decision and the best decision are one and the same. Once in a while, it's not. In there lies the problem.
Agro
Can we like, do this sort of like a republic instead? -.- You know, have the popular vote and let members voice their concerns; who they want to mod and why. Then have the moderating team choose. Taking into account the opinions of the YCM populace, of course.
evilfusion for Your Deck and Legend Zero & Miror for General, I'm assuming. Miror wasn't all that good, but that's mainly because he didn't want to be a mod. On the other hand evilfusion and LZ have been great choices. So I'd say that's how we should go about doing it now. In either case, is there a thread for voting for this yet? Soon we would have actual campaigns with gerrymandering and illegal votes soon dominating the status bar every election! And then the points would become relevant for campaign purposes and only the richest of mem-*shot* But seriously, what Agro said
Mugendramon
The thing is, that unlike what this thread would lead you to believe, members' opinion would probably not have much of a say once the matter actually needs to get done: No matter how popular the member may be or what reasons you may find for them to be good choices. If they're not mod material, they won't go up. If they are in fact mod material, they would probably be brought up by the electors themselves anyway. Catterjune
In either case, is there a thread for voting for this yet?
Not as far as I can tell. There's just a Moderator Application topic in CC: http://forum.yugiohc...ication-thread/ The next logical question is "when does voting begin?" in which case I'd say "ask Mik I guess."
The thing is, that unlike what this thread would lead you to believe, members' opinion would probably not have much of a say once the matter actually needs to get done: No matter how popular the member may be or what reasons you may find for them to be good choices.
... Is it? Honestly, I agree with that mentality, but I kind of also wanna see Mik's plan through to the end just so he'll shut up about democracy and fairness and stuff. Best case scenario: We get an excellent new CC mod. Worst case scenario: We get a terrible CC mod and I get to gloat about being right, which I enjoy doing. Agro
Makes sense. Congrats... I think. Anyway, there is the other way around we could do this. Instead of popular vote into mods choosing, we could do mods choosing candidates for popular vote.

Legend Zero
The problem with voting is the same with American voting....people vote for the wrong reasons. This will actually let us know if most members are sheep or smart, imo.

Darth Revan of the Sith
You know there is a nice way to do this. Have members vote, but if they vote they MUST write a one paragraph essay of reasons that qualifies said member of receiving modhood.

We can receive a list of people who need to be investigated and go ahead and do that, but conjuring up a list out of nothing is something else entirely.
