Because I just realized this is the single most generic counter to SDAM. It just won me two games in a row against that bastard while using different decks. Besides, I do like a little ATK boost in my WATERs. Discuss.

I don't entirely understand what makes this card so good.
It's relatively weak, provides a boost only in a WATER deck, and the effect, while alright, seems like it isn't worth the cost for such a weak card.
And I missing something?

It single-handedly destroys DWs and Merlanteans (to a degree).

And the fact that it can get run over by pretty much anything when not used in a WATER Deck?

Wind-Ups have Shark and rabbit has Kabazauls. Even as a 17 beater, the advantage you get from summoning it against Merlans and DWs is definitely worth the risk of it getting run over.

A good card doesn't come from it's ATK/DEF. It comes from it's utility and it's playability. It being a Rank 4 helps to boost that playability and it's a Quick Effect, which automatically makes it awesome.

It isnt exactly only for WATER.dek, heroes, wind ups,and rabbit have bubbleman, shark and kaboozles,so they can make it decent, and verz can back it with backrow, barely.

But you make it out like it should be in any deck, when it only works in a WATER Deck, or a deck that can utilize WATER cards.
Why should I run this in, say, Fire Fists?
[/quote]
You shouldn't because it's bad in there except against DWs, in which case you should side it.

It just doesn't seem like it would be around long enough to benefit from its effect in anything other than a deck that can utilize it to its maximum potential.
Would it?

The idea behind using this is you don't just drop it on the Field at first opportunity, the way you might for Zenmaines (Rank 3s anyway), Laggia, Utopia, or other deck-specific ace cards.

You rather Summon it when you're aware your opponent uses a Deck or strategy that will be halted or greatly inconvenienced by this card's effect. Notable cards are Sangan, DWs, Mermails/Atlanteans, Stardust, etc.

Even if this card will die, you can still detach a Material to stop Grave effects for the rest of the turn, since it's a Quick Effect.

Dunktacular. Only one of its Materials needs to be WATER for the boost.

In Dino Rabbit, you'd use this against Mermanteans rather than Dolkka, for a simple reason: If a monster's effect is not the last Link in the Chain, Dolkka cannot negate it...which is generally irrelevant because Dolkka can hit Megalo and Dragoons one after another, and the Deck has Macro Cosmos anyways.

I'm just saying, it gets run over easily if you don't give it that boost. Dragoons attacks over it, and Megalo can not only attack over it, but if you don't MP1 activate you will end up giving your opponent their effects (though why wouldn't you MP1 activate?) Grapha can still return itself I believe, because it's a summon condition.
