Organ found in a meal from KFC

From the article:

"A student who found what appeared to be a chicken brain in his KFC meal has vowed never to eat there again - despite being offered vouchers for free food as an apology.
Ibrahim Langoo was left nauseated after spotting a 'wrinkled brain' inside a piece of chicken while tucking into a Gladiator box meal at a branch in Colchester, Essex.
The 19-year-old took a photograph of the three-inch piece of offal - later judged to be a kidney by KFC's experts - on his mobile phone and complained to staff."

It's a bit gross so beware of the photo of the organ, but here's the article:

What I find weird, is that when one buys chicken, I don't think the head of the chicken is used at all. You have, legs. wings, and the middle body sections. What's a brain even doing inside of there? One I'd calculate to be roughly the size of the chicken's head itself.... maybe a bit thicker.
It's understandable for KFC to try to protect their public image, but still....o.O"

Because it's not a brain. It says right there, in the article, that it's a chicken kidney.

I know it says that, though I'll at least go do a Google search, just to find out what the average kidney size for chicken are. I now got curious.

Well.. at least it's not something like human limbs in there xD

EDIT:
yeah, definitely a kidney.
The heat must have wrinkled it while cooked, but that's pretty much what it is.

Like Koko said, that's cuz it's a kidney. .-.

This is why I only eat the Meltz from KFC

no chicken kidney can wind up in THOSE small chicken bites inside

....I think

You fail to see I already answered to that. I have also modified the OP to say "organ" without specifying, just to play safe.

To be fair, just like DK said, it's a one in a million mess up, and kidneys ARE eatable.... if it was cooked well enough.

....I think

"just to be safe"?

Scientists have said it's a kidney. Kidney seems like a pretty safe bet imo.

And uh.....yeah

It's edible

But it's kinda....not...supposed to....BE...there.......

Frankly, if I order a certain piece of meat, I don't expect to be given a different piece of meat due to sheer incompetency, especially one that looks as unappetising as a shrivelled kidney.
But...that's not a different piece of meat. It's the piece he ordered with some extra protein.

Judged by KFC experts. I'm not saying it's not a kidney, though.

Yeah, it's not supposed to.

That looks foul. Good thing I don't even like KFC so I'm safe from this unless I find a cow kidney inside a beefburger which is unlikely.
This is unlikely too

It just so happened this guy was unlucky o3o

Ah, but if it's a mcdonalds beefburger, you're not going to be finding any cow in there. Just rats and chemicals.

And fast-food chains have never been reliable for this. To be honest, I rarely go into them. And it's generally KFC that I go into, because it's the best out of the main ones. Seriously, McDonalds is much worse.
Oh, and KFC is generally quite delicious. I never expect them to be perfect, but they're still great.

I'm never going to eat in KFC again...

...

... because I kind of like my health, and the food is just so awful.

Given the choice of fast food restaurants, I choose starvation.
