So this says:

Wind ups, mermails, and gadgets are on top, with heroes tagging along with dark world for second place, rabbit, hieratics, and inzektors being rogue, and saying that fire fists getting a boost from VE08 makes them able to compete with the big 5.

I think.

So those numbers right next to the Decks...those are the ranks in which the Deck tends to overextend, right? Because that totally makes sense.

Well, you know Gadgets!

The basic fact that Hieratics are even listed here is appalling.

Either Konami is blind and just reordered the list from last format to include the new archetypes (totally possible), or they're blind and called Geargia Gadgets.

Either way, this list is bad and means that Verz are probably not getting hit (unless that Rabbit says Verz Rabbit next to it) And that Mermails/Atlanteans, Gadgets, and Wind-Ups are. (and HEROs and Dark Worlds apparently?)

It does say "&", so it could include Verz and Dino.

Also, Gadgets technically generate more advantage, just they don't have as much beef and deck thinning as Geargias, considering they +1 every single time, when Geargias end up losing a card in deck for their +1 or otherwise adding a (mostly) useless card, though in the process gaining a bigger monster.

They could also be using Goldfish Gadgets. I don't know what all of the meta looks like over there, but I know that when Gigant came out at first that was really big.

NeoArk Translations:
Based on the image, the top contendors in the Japanese Meta currently are: 1. Mermail-Atlantean 2. Machina Gadget 3. Wind-Up 4. HERO (Beats 1/2/3) 5. Dark World (Beats 1/2/3) Outlier: Fire Fists (Level 4 Variant) (Beats the Big 3 and Dark Wolrd) Other Outliers that beat the Big 3: - Inzektor - Evolzar Rabbit - Hieratic
So, no, it doesn't mean Evilswarm Bunny. They're purposely turning a blind eye to two of the most powerful decks because they will hit TCG land in April and have some seriously hyped cards like Ptolemys, Pleiades, Ophion, and sorta Ouroboros. Due to Fire Fist and Rabbit both encompassing some of the star players of the two best decks HA07 brings to the TCG, they probably will avoid hitting the two of them, In addition, Fire Fists are kinda new, so I doubt we'll be seeign a hit on Tenki that isn't Tenki to 2 or none at all. Think Inzektors and Wind-Ups going into March 2012. There's still milk to get out before Tenki dies.

Actually the meta doesn't really matter since i've seen all those decks being taken down from any kind of deck, even people using Gen 1 monsters. It really doesn't matter what deck you run anymore because the banlist is so horrible than it's all about how many traps you draw in to. God this game has become horrible.

ahahahahahaha. no. just, no. there are decks that are definitely more consistent and powerful than others. merlanteans will pretty much always beat noble knights etc. like thats regardless of whatever the banlist is like. the fact that this list isnt 100% accurate doesnt mean the entire concept is wrong.

Actually, any deck can really win and any deck can lose. The only reason why meta even exists is because people latch onto a certain strategy and it gets refined over time due to everyone using it and figuring out how to be abuse it. If everyone did that for every deck, everything would be just as overpowered. Facts of life.

Stop being bad at competitive gaming. Some decks are most certainly more powerful/consistent/etc. than others, just as with a character in a fighting game. Meta exists because certain things are BETTER.

the simple truth of the matter is that due to how certain cards interact together, some decks will ALWAYS be more consistent and/or powerful than others. all the meta is a a ranking of which decks are more consistent than others. currently, stuff like merlanteans and verz and windup are very good. decks like harpies mist valley and beastcraft are less good. then theres the shit at the bottom which is just random piles of cards thrown together. thats just the way it is, and stuff like "making the banlist better" or "making less traps" isnt gonna change that.

That's certainly possible, but do the old decks win consistently? I use mostly GX-era stuff, with some 5D's. I beat a top-tier deck with Mist Body Drill Barnacle once. But I get pounded virtually every other time. Why? Partly because I'm a casual, unskilled player, but largely because my old decks are inconsistent and lack the power of modern decks. If you can make an old-style deck and win consistently, then it could be part of the meta. But they don't win consistently, and that's what excludes them from the top tiers.
