I'm pretty sure they're better mixed with other archetypes. They have no reliable archetype search/draw engine so Karakuri/Machina stuff would probably work. I still love these guys though. Their artwork is great, their effects work together like a pseudo-toolbox and they're just pretty cool. Geargiganto X boosts consistency amazingly, especially with Chaos Infinity. Favourite archetype if anything. Just wish they had better/more support. Mekanikle and Asterik suck. I think Kowalski's idea for a Structure Deck for them was pretty good. Or his idea for a Meklord Army version of Mekanikle. I miss Kowalski.

Also, Wisel is best Emperor.

They're pretty mediocre in both veins.

The Emperors are anti-Synchro in an age where Synchros are not commonly run compared to Xyz. They have to be Summoned when a monster dies by a card effect, which limits their consistency outside of Scraps. Wisel is the only one of the Emperors that doesn't require Synchros to have a good effect, and Granel is good early game and terrible late game.

The Meklord Armies are kind of fun, but I see them most using Chaos Infinity with Summoner of Illusions to bring out Gaia Drake. They're too weak and the effects are too slow and underwhelming to really push the same way that Gadgets or Machina or Geargia can. Wisel is just a piercer, Granel is a weaker Gale, and Skiel is their searcher, and is very good at what it does, considering how few targets it actually has.

The Meklord Astros are awful. Machinecle is a -3 beatstick that requires the -3 to be from a very narrow range of monsters in hand (other Meklords) with no protection and gets stronger with Synchros. The burn effect is too slow and sacrifices a Battle Phase and the absorbed ATK in favor of burn, which is a good investment SOMETIMES. But the sheer cost of Summoning it is on the scale of Montage Dragon, minus the "Veiler makes you scoop" issue.

Asterisk is a Semi-Nomi, meaning it has very little potential for any abusability that would have made it at least COOL, but requiring 3 Meklords on the Field, and since Meklords are nigh-incapable of genuinely swarming, this will rarely happen. Then, when Summoned, you get rid of your Meklords on Field to boost it into a beatstick. This removes Field advantage for an equal amount of just beatsticking. Its burn effect only works when a Synchro is Special Summoned, and with Synchros no longer the big thing outside of rare moments (Starlight Road and Stardust's effect) or Decks, this is even more ridiculously conditional than when it was released. While it gets to send Meklords when it's Special Summoned by any means, being a Semi-Nomi means you have to Summon it properly first, rather than things like Mystic Tomato, or sending it for Machina Fortress and using Monster Reborn or something later.

Meklord support is terrible. They're all conditional cards that tend to be -1 in nature with the "intents" of helping you Summon an Emperor by destroying your monsters. Meklords therefore suffer immensely from card advantage, as they dont really have ways to create it or compensate for the effects that cost them advantage.

Their draw Spell card requires the ONLY faceup monsters to be 2 Meklords. That includes your opponent monsters. And it skips your Battle Phase. The only way this could be worthwhile is if you get multiple Boons, and that's asking too much.

Scraps is where the Machine Emperors like Wisel or Granel can shine, as they WANT to destroy themselves by card effects, and do so deliberately at the end of a chain so that the Scraps can get their effects. But in using Wisel, you prevent your own Synchros from attacking in exchange for a 2500 beater/wall that negates a Spell once per turn. Worthwhile at times, but Wisel will get in the way more often than not. Granel will be conditional based on your LP, but is EARTH for Naturia Beast, and doesn't restrict your own monsters from attacking.
