I'm apart of my school's chess team, which has been a very interesting experience throughout high school. A lot of antics happen within the club. I enjoy playing the game and having a great time with my team. Oh, I play the Four Knights Scotch Variation as White and the French Defense as Black. Yea, gotta have something to play when you play in a chess league.

Either I'm terrible at it or my brother is very good.

I usually open with a knight, as sterotypical as can be, and then I go on from there.

1. Nf3 is actually the start of a chess opening. It isn't one that I personally use since I go 1. e4 and usually go along the lines of 1. ... e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6.

I used to play a lost with my uncle

The I went to use the US and kinda stopped....but he did give me a big book on chess that I read sort of.

It was interesting, and taught me some plays

Of course, all this was AGES ago...

SO I don't really know any particular plays

However I am fully aware how the game works, and that the center is a key part to control, etc.

I played against this guy a year or two ago, who was apparently really good, in our school

And apparently I was actually doing well, until I did a move with the horse that set me back >:

I have the potential in me, from my childhood experience and stuff....but I need to practice, to be good x.x haha

I can play decently tho, yeah. And I DO quite like it.

Tho I sort of prefer Go, a bit.

I've never read books on chess or studied chess. I generally don't play unless someone is looking to play chess which I generally would accept the challenge. I'm a casual player who played in elementary school chess club, but that's about it. I've also randomly been to a tournament which I had to drive 2 or 3 hours to get to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicilian_Dragon Have played as White during chess club. Proved to be an interesting game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caro-Kann_Defence Not seen often on my level. Usually the French is seen more than the Caro-Kann.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicilian_Defense,_Najdorf_Variation TBH, I've played against the Dragon more than the Najdorf. Though, this was the first Sicilian I've played against.

I prefer defensive openings on the whole, although I am partial to playing Four Pawns Attack if I'm bored.

Just so you know, I've never played the Sicilian as Black myself. Like I said, I go with the French as Black.

Well then I haven't played in some time but I'm am an okay player.

When I was a kid I'd play with my dad. He'd destroy me most of the time but that experience was enough to make me decent.

I remember back in my last year of high school, they finally put up a chess club. I joined, with the exception of myself everyone was in advanced classes. I on the other hand was in the 2nd lowest tier of classes right above classes for the mentally handy cap (not joking cause that's about where I'm at).

Anyways, despite my lack of intelligence I was able to hold my own against my piers. Even going so far as to tie for first for one of the tournaments held (stalemated with my opp).

As for my play style, I would put it like this. At first I'm a kind general that cares for his men. Then as my anger grows I turn into a merciless tyrant that is willing to slaughter his own men to take out key points of the opposition.

Oh also, I prefer playing black. IE 2nd.

I like the game, though I'm very casual about it. Rarely do I play it but when I do, my starting moves usuall are more or less:

First the standard move of the pawn in front of the king to prevent the checkmate move. Usually just one space to not block my bishop's future moves.

Then I start moving the pawns that keep my bishops trapped, and trying to make a defensive wall with them as I do so.

Then I move the knights out in preparation for when it's needed, but focus on the one closest to the king first, a secondary goal in that move is to exchange my tower with the king eventually if needed... Well, last few games, even when it's not needed, it's mostly always been more convenient to have that formation, so I do it anyways.

After that the party starts. I pretty much try to keep all my different pieces active. The towers are the hardest to move for me, while bishops and knights are everywhere.

[spoiler=What I got from yesterday's Regional chess tournament]

ONWARD TO STATE!

Nicely done, I kinda want to see how well I'd do against you.

And this probably doesn't matter to anyone, but I have 2 separate chess sets with different themes. One with Coke/Coca Cola pieces and a Super Mario set that I got for Christmas. Kinda makes the game more fun for me when I get to play wacky pieces like those. what a cool story, right

Like most people here I am also a casual player as well. Every once in a while I do ask friends to play with me or they ask me to play with them. As for play style I tend to do random moves at the beginning and then start planning moves(usually once 4 or more of my pieces are taken) later in the game. Sometimes I feel silly and move my pawns that are in front of my king and move them so i can start playing with only the king(unless it has no move that it can do). I have actually won a few times like this, but most of the time I lose.

I was a hard core chess player...in Middle School when I constantly played against my dad and competed because some of my friends had joined the Chess Club. Then I found M.A., and it went downhill from there.

Lucky for me, I still have all the know how :3

Best play for me:

Kings Gambit, with a unique variant (I know it has a name, but I'm bad at remembering names)

e4, f4 and (if opponent declines the pawn) g6.

If opponent takes the pawn, I go with Nf3

From there, I can only estimate my opponent's power and position as the game progresses :P
