The surprise factor is gone, and after thorough testing, its not as scary as everyone makes it out to be.
It is that scary though... ._.

I personally don't understand the difference between Mono-Mermail or Merlanteans. Why does a deck of the same style need a new name when its just got no undine engine in it

Basically "Merlanteans" was the name given to the original Mermail Atlantean Deck with Undines etc. Mono-Mermail is the Deck popularised by Billy Brake and Jeff Jones which ran 3 Abyssteus and cards like Abyssgunde and Abyss-Squall, and they named it Mono-Mermail. Technically Mono-Mermail is still Atlanteans but they play a lot more Mermails than the original.

Also on the topic of whether they're good or not, they definitely are, they almost never open bad and have crazily easy OTKs and literally if you open Teus, Dragoons and 2 other WATERs, which isn't too hard, you will always win if you can get clear attacks. Trust me, the surprise factor hasn't got anything to do with it, it really is a fantastic Deck.

When people say Mono-Mermail, they think of Billy's build. Calling them merlanteans is inaccurate by association, and since everyone has already adopted the term Mono-Mermails, that is the most accurate name for the deck BY DEFINITION. It's like calling bubble beat HERO beat. Yeah, it runs HEROs, and it's beatdown, but it draws up misconceptions.

when I think Merlanteans, I think of a build that runs "Atlanteans" and "Mermails" in one deck. Not the engine that makes it. But that's just me anyway.
but it creates more confusion because the genex element was 2 fucking cards. removing two cards from your deck doesnt suddenly entail a brand new name. its merlanteans. mermails+atlanteans. youre all making this stupid and complex for exactly zero reasons.
It's not the displacement of 2 cards, Claire. It's the displacement of 7-8 cards, which definitely constitutes a new build. And you're making this into a bigger deal than what it really is for zero reasons.
