Sora1499
2 Level 3 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Wind-Up" monster from your hand or Deck. When a face-up"Wind-Up" monster on the field is destroyed and sent to your Graveyard(except during the Damage Step): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target that monster; return that target to the hand. Wonder why Konami banned this instead of magician. Discuss.
Althemia
Because they don't want to kill the deck maybe..? Keeping this at 1 is stupid anyway.
Wildflame
They just went for the overkill, like with Inzektors. And seriously, I always forget that the second effect exists.

evilfusion
Zenmaity was problematic from the start. Being able to SS any Wind-Up from the Deck and having access to Rat or Tour Guide for easy Rank 3 just enabled the spam. Magician on its own, while maybe not BALANCED, was only so much of an issue. It was Wind-Up Shark that made Magician a spam machine, and Zenmaity made it easy to get that Magician. Magician had to be hit because of the Magician + Shark combo. But Zenmaity was worse, due to not having to be drawn, being spammable with Rat or Tour Guide, and could search out any Wind-Up for almost nothing. Magician had a specific timing, but multiple Magicians was broken as hell. Since multiple copies was the problem, Limiting it was a good move without killing all playability the Deck had. Wind-Ups were almost blatantly designed as a spam Deck. By banning Zenmaity and limiting Magician, we'll see what that does to them. If it doesn't do enough, we might see Magician banned instead. Toffee.
If it only Summoned from the Hand, it would actually be balanced :/
evilfusion
As for Zenmaity's second effect, it's never used because it pales significantly to the first. Not only does it not work if a Wind-Up dies by battle or during Damage step (Catastor), but most destruction will be aimed at Zenmaity itself, and why would anyone detach the last Material if Zenmaity is going to survive? You'll get to use its effect to search from Deck next turn.
Canadian
That second effect was way too OP'd and had to go.
Northern Sage
Stupid spam engine with inexcusably poor design. Don't come back.
-Berserker-
The only of my decks that was actually touched by the banlist. I don't really want to use MX-Saber Invoker instead of this. Better to find a different direction for the deck (and then, next pack Konami releases a Wind-Up tuner).

ihop
Should be banned. Oh good, it is. Leave it there and don't hit Wind-Ups anymore.
Agro
Comparably benign this format. Partially because it's banned.
EmpoleMew
And yet Wind-Ups can still spam the everloving crap out of everything.
Miror B
And yet Wind-Ups can still spam the everloving crap out of everything. Just now the deck has to run less consistency due to running different monsters.
byak
Just now the deck has to run less consistency due to running different monsters. if anything, the deck became more consistent with recent switches to tenki oriented builds and cardcar/duality
Miror B
if anything, the deck became more consistent with recent switches to tenki oriented builds and cardcar/duality I was pointing more at the Shock Lock builds that require you to run Monks and Warriors, which have no real purpose in the deck other than a specific combo. Miror B
Monk is awful and no one good uses it anymore There are people running it because shock lock is the new hand loop and you must run it no matter how bad it makes your deck.

Miror B
Then they're making suboptimal choices, Monk isn't a "must run" card. It's just a case of "Oh shock lock must still be amazing and we'll force it to be amazing", like how after they first got hit and people kept trying to abuse the hand loop until someone pointed out they could actually be good.
