Number 69: Heraldry Crest

3 Level 4 monsters
When this card is Special Summoned: Negate the effects of all other face-up Xyz Monsters currently on the field. You can target 1 other face-up Xyz Monster on the field; until the End Phase, this card gains the same name and effects as that target. You can only use this effect of "Number 69: Heraldic Emblem" once per turn.

discuss.

I find it amusing how they slapped Heraldic in this card's name, despite the fact it originally didn't say that.
Though, to be fair, it's Kanji means both Heraldic and Medallion, so likely they just did that to unify with the rest of it's archetype.

The name change doesn't suprise me, because supposedly Religion can't exist in the TCG, and since it's used by a Villain in the anime, it could have some bad negative connotations. Or at least that's what I guess the logic is.

OT: I remember this actually had a use in pre-banlist Wind-Ups which was nice. The anime version was just flat out godly.

Its English name would be Heraldry Emblem (if the translation is right), not Heraldic. Any time the Japanese version said "Medallion" in Engrish (High Medallion Arts, Blast Medallion, Reborn Medallion etc) it was translated as Heraldry (Heraldry Change, Reborn Heraldry, Heraldry Art).

I just loved Number 69's original name. God Medallion, Coat of Arms is just a badass name. I can understand "God" being removed, and Medallion, as above, would be made into "Heraldry". Coat of Arms wasn't a member of the Heraldric archetype, unlike Genom Heriter (Heraldic King).

But I really, really, REALLY would have been fine with almost anything so long as they preserved "Coat of Arms". I understand "Emblem" being used, because that's sort of what a coat of arms is, but I also felt Coat of Arms was a secondary pun on coatl, which Number 69 resembles a little.

I'm fine with the name change, but I'll still refer to it as Coat of Arms, because Tron used that constantly to refer to his monster, similar to how Yuma refers to Number 39 as "Hope". It's a shortened version of its full name, but Coat of Arms sounds badass. Emblem doesn't have the same impact.

Now then, I love the card. It probably is my favorite Number in terms of flavor (Volcasaurus is my favorite for effect). It's outclassed by most Rank 4s with 3 Materials, but it's a fun little card to have if you feel like it.

Seconded. If you have room for it, it has a place as a great anti-Xyz Monster.

One of my fondest DN memories (which I have very few of) is plopping this down in a Hunder Deck against a Galaxy Deck that summoned NGEPD, but failed to finish me off.

It was hilarious. :3

Name change is horribel. I wish they'd done Heraldic King, Coat of Arms or something, but meh.

As for thecard itself, it sucks, except for in the situations when it completely obliterates everything. Which happen somewhat frequently, given how Xyz-y the meta is.

It's an Extra Deck monster; you can run it just to use in those situations.

Space is the issue. If you run enough Level 4s to use Rank 4s, you've got tons and tons of options, and there are numerous Rank 4s for only 2 Materials that can do a ton of different things. Then there are 3 Material Rank 4s that are usually better for whatever situation you have. Combined with space, techs, and other Ranks...Coat of Arms has to struggle for a spot.

I use this primarily in my Gogogo Deck (which I built specifically for Coat of Arms to be used) and half the time I Summon Coat of Arms, I did it for the sake of Summoning Coat of Arms, and not because it would win me the game. Except that one time when I Summoned it against Chronomaly Chrononaut and Utopia, then later stole Utopia's name to evolve into C39 for game.

That's funny because the wikia is now referring to it as Number 69: Coat of Arms.

I saw that before. Didnt bother commenting because the other language translations were saying something similar to "Emblem", and the English one doesn't even say "Heraldry" on it.

Guess we still have to wait.

I still think that this name is better than Heraldry Emblem though.

Well I have to get myself one of these to go with my Spirit Messages "A", "N", "A" and "L".

OT: I really don't see it being played anywhere, outside of Shock Master any 3 mat Rank 4 just seems meh.

Screw Number 91 but idk how you're gonna tell me Ouroborous is bad...

I main 1 in Evilswarms and I've won a significant number of games based on its bouncing effect alone...

Granted, Ourobouros is pretty good, I kinda forgot he's a card now.
