OT: Necessary evil and an out to summon Rai-oh, set hand, gg. It also allows TT and MF to go up the list by making Starlight mainable. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to you, although I think they should both be at 1.

I actually remember when you posted that before, TC.

Cry Some More would be another appropriate title name for the topic, seeming as how everyone QQs when you play it.

Cuz this card forces the logic of Wc07.
You set ANYTHING backrow, they opt to play this.

Some people think they can outsmart me, maybe, *sniff* maybe. I have yet to meet one that can outsmart Heavy Storm.

tfw Starlighting your own Heavy for game. I actually did that once. It was funny. He was like, "K?.. oh.."

Dropping it on 1 card... Lol

That's not actually as bad as it sounds because it's still a +0 that enables going for game.

idk wtf to do with this card. On one hand, it enables OTKs out the ass and should be banned. On the other, the format would become awful should it be banned. DECISIONS DECISIONS.

It's an acceptable evil for the game. Because it punishes over extension, makes people sometimes think before setting stuff, and prevents horrible set 5 pass formats.

And until a more acceptable version of it is printed that isn't garbage it should stay at 1.

Though the fact that this is seen as more of a tech this format that a staple still makes me feel strange...

Long ago, I set many backrow cards on that one duel, and had Starlight there. My opponent Heavy Stormed and used Seven Tools on my Starlight.

Tears of blood that day. Though it was hilarious in a way.

Heavy should stay. I was of the opinion that it should go, until the format where it got banned.

Once you learn how to play conservatively, the card is not so bad.

Personally, I would like to see a version of this printed like this:

"Discard 1 Spell/Trap card; Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field. You cannot Special Summon the turn you activate this card or resolve this effect."

Then it would restore its original function of punishing overextension without being too powerful. But by now, Konami has decided Heavy Storm is fine and that such a card would never need to be printed.

Plan C: Kill off the OTKs.

The card could easily have the "discard 1" or "opponent draws" costs or side effects to justify the giant plus you can potentially get from it, but I think that:

a] That's the point of it. If your opponent doesn't greatly fall behind in advantage for over-extending, then the card is not strong enough.

b] It'd still enable OTKs by clearing the backrow, which is the biggest issue it has.

I personally think it'd just need to prevent you from getting a Battle Phase that turn, or limiting the number of attacks you can do that turn (to 1 or 0 ).

I'd suggest the "no Special Summons" clause, but there are decks that can get away with that, and preparing for the future, Konami might stir the game towards Normal Summons someday, but the game will always need a Battle Phase, so it sounds more timeless.

I would probably also design the card so that you cannot activate it if you have another one in the Graveyard or banished, or something like that. Incorporate in the card's design itself, why it doesn't need to occupy yet another slot in the limited list. So people could run 3 for consistency, but it'd still be your 1 use.

Another unspoken benefit is tha it's not the lazy line of "once per Duel" that is the laziest way to restrict card effects.

So it'd be something like this hypothetical card:

[quote=Card]

Cosmic Heavy Storm

Normal Spell Card

You cannot activate this card if "Cosmic Heavy Storm" is in your Graveyard or your banished cards. During the turn you activate "Cosmic Heavy Storm", you can only declare 1 attack. Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.
