Target 1 Spellcaster-Type monster on thefield; it gains 800 ATK until the End Phase. Once, when the Targeted monsterdestroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can add 1 Level 4 or lowerSpellcaster-Typemonster from your Graveyard to your hand.
A mini "Horn of the Phantom Beast" for Spellcasters. I figured Horn doesn't get enough love. What might be broken about it, though, is that it can fetch back some used Prophecies to plus even more out the ass.

I'm not very knowledgable about Spellcasters even though Spellbooks are such a big deck this format.

Well on the plus side, this one lasts a turn. Unless there's a combo I'm not seeing, I see no problem with the card at all.

Due to my lack of experience with Spellbooks, I actually wonder if being a Trap is too much of a drawback.

Casually speaking?

I'm mainly thinking of Gagagas, and a Breaker/Lyla/Windy search is also always welcome.

It can fetch back Temperance, even though you can only really "use" Temperance "once per turn". It can also fetch back Justice, Apprentice, that one other Prophecy where it lets you add a Spellbook to your hand after flipping it up (the name slips me at the moment), and, like you mentioned, Gagagas and Charmers. I'm mainly more concerned about what it can fetch, not so much the ATK increase, because, if Horn can get away with it, Viper Trail can as well.

This card isn't that good or particularly useful because its too slow and somewhat weak. I'd suggest either making it a Quick-Play or give you the choice between Special Summoning the Spellcaster or adding it to your hand.

For one thing, being a Trap, it's far too slow to be used in Prophecies. Even if it were a Spell, they wouldn't use it, they don't really have space and they'd rather use Power, which is searchable, has a ATK higher boost and is part of the Archetype, thus getting all the Archetypal bonuses. If they really wanted Temperance back (which isn't used unless in some Reaper or World build), they'd use Spellbook of Life, so the only possible use for this would be in the extremely rare situation where they are unable to procure a Spellbook Magician. tl;dr Don't worry this doesn't boost Prophecies.

So looking at the other Spellcaster-Type archetypes out there, we have Gravekeepers, which can't use this for obvious reasons, Gagaga, which don't fight and then there's Fortune Lady. I suppose this card could possibly be used in there, but it's mediocre at best, because of the combined factors that it's really slow, being a trap, and that Fortune Ladies aren't in such great need of returning their monsters from the Graveyard to the hand. However, Fortune Ladies do love to be Special Summoned and they lack good ways of Special Summoning, hence the my suggestion of letting it Special Summon. But why the choice? Because if you only let it Special Summon, this thing would be slightly outclassed by Call of the Haunted.

Lightsworns really don't have enough Spellcasters to use this, Spell Counter.dek with Defender and Breaker would probably prefer a Spell Card to add Spell Counters to the field and I can't think of any other relevant Spellcasters.

With my suggested changes, it could be a somewhat usable card, but really, making a Horn for Spellcasters isn't the best idea considering many Spellcasters don't battle.

I want my one-night stand.
