El Majishan
Is it needed? With all the Back Row hate that is available in YGO, do we need the mass removal provided by Storm? Yes, no one likes dealing with "Summon set 4" which is what usually happens when storm is banned, but think about it...such a format may encourage more skill in the game because players are forced to play around each other's back row, which encourages player interaction, which is something we all want. Discuss.
hexcalibrate
personally I think this card will work in all format's, it's the best at what it does and I don't think there will ever be much point in banning it, simple as
Mugendramon
Skill doesn't ONLY revolve around prediction, which is what a Summon set 4 format encourages above anything else. Deckbuilding becomes less important as you just stuff your deck with staples and move on.
El Majishan
Yes, skill is more than just prediction, but being able to read the situation, figure of the probability of which cards are set playing around them is a MAJOR part of what skill is in this game. Please elaborate on "stuff you deck with staples." As far as I know decks already run most staples in Reborn, Hole, the Solemn Twins, and MST (main or sided)...so what other staples are there to stuff? Aerion Brightflame
It stays until we get an alternative that stops OTK's from occurring as a result of it's use. It's good for the game, by forcing people to actually think enough to not over commit recklessly, or be punished for that. It stops set 5 pass formats, which are horrible formats. It's only downside really is that it leads into OTK plays. Which is a shame, but it's still better for the game to have than not to have. And it's not so much playing around each others backrow, but playing through it. Without mass removal, you can't get around the backrow short of forcing it to be played. Which means the person who gets through the opposing backrow, and establishes decent field presence gets an advantage which is harder to get around. Backrow is a tricky thing. To much or to little of it in a given format and the format becomes bad. Hence why heavy staying at 1 generally works well for a format.
El Majishan
It's funny, I think I'm the only one who enjoys "set five, pass" formats....oh saber format...how I miss you. Good points though Barty.
Not-so-Radiant Arin
It's disappointing that this devastating card this format is now only Sided or not even run anymore.
玄魔の王
Rai-Oh Set 5 Pass. How I hate formats like that. Even if you read their plays, if you're not in a position to deal with it, the game goes into stall mode. I'd say the OTK factor of this is a necessary evil to keep those sorts of formats in check, and even it isn't as bad as Trunade or Cold Wave. Zazubat
It's weird, if we get rid of it, we get major backrow set, if we keep it, people will bitch about it being there.
ihop
I still play it, I got hit by it multiple times today and won with it multiple times. Nothing will stop me maining Storm, unless I play like 2 backrows.
Sleepy
Well, to be honest. Heavy could have been banned this format, and it would have made no difference. I wonder if it's because of the specific format or if it's the way the game's gonna be from now on. Then again, finding the right amount of destruction is a tricky thing as said above. You can't have a format that can easily set full backrow and deal with it with MSTs. That's dumb luck, not skill. You can't have cards like Inzektor Hornet's combo being a common thing either. Mass destruction and swarming can only be matched by more of the same, and too much of those leave more flavorful plays obsolete. That hurts the potential variety of the game, and backrow also needs to be a thing, or else we have something like this format where people just go "screw it, I'm not gonna use that part of the mat, Set cards are a more defensive way of playing that will just be overwhelmed if I use it nowadays... if I set anything, it'll be chainable gods like Lance, reusable like Breakthrough, or + searches (that are still chainable anyways) like Pandemic". After posting this, I need to read it again to see how much I just side-tracked myself..... Heavy has the amount of destruction right, but not the OTK consequences. I had posted a hypothetical replacement in the last Heavy Storm thread I was in. Something that allowed a single monster to attack, to allow moving forward and recovering without downright OTKing that turn, and something that could not activate if you already had a used copy in the Grave/banished, because "Once per Duel" is lazy design and I like recycling posibilities to be a thing worth something, and saying "don't worry, we'll just make it hit the list later" is even irritating if I ever hear a designer actually say that out loud. IDK... I think that'd be the ideal version of Heavy Storm in my humble opinion.

If they were pushing for game, or a massive push either way, it's acceptable to use Heavy on 1-card backrows. Otherwise, though, it's a waste. Bull3tM0nk3y
Nope. It seems to be first turn. Now, its alright if they're pushing like you said.

Every time Heavy is used on me I expect a big push that turn, you have no idea how much it irks my nerves when people Heavy then say "set 2, pass"
