question on mermails & bad hands *solved*

Recommended Posts

So I was facing mermails today with a deck including some cards I created (but the fact that I created some of my cards is NOT the point nor is it what I'm trying to discuss here). I end my turn controlling number 102: Star Seraph sentry with 2 materials, and 2 other monsters on my field, 1 of which could negate a spell card activation once and the other that didn't have any disruptive effects at all. He had 5 cards in hand via flipping my morphing jar last turn. He doesn't even draw before surrendering due to having a bad hand and thus not having an out. The only card in his had that he told me he had was that monster whose name I forget that requires exactly 5 WATER monsters in the graveyard and there were more then that. He had at least 5000 life points left, as did I.

What I'd like to know is, is having a dead hand in that situation realistically possible for a deck like mermails? Since I almost never face them, I have no idea weather he really didn't have an out or was just wanting to stop the duel politely. I care because I can't count it as a true victory if statistically speaking he likely did have an out.

edit: now that I think about it, he'd need to get rid of at least 2 of my monster to have a chance at a comeback, so not being able to get over them before losing on my next turn is probable. Thanks for the help everyone!

Squall is one of the worst dead draw cards, I remember at YCS Bochum (this was back with 3 Diva and 3 Dragoons) my mate next to me opened a really appalling hand with Squall, an MST or something, a Gunde and some other stuff. Every deck can get a bad hand.
