Number 18: Plain Coat the Heraldic Ancestor

2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, if there are 2 or more monsters on the field with the same name: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 of those monsters; destroy all other monsters with the same name as that target. While this card is face-up on the field, your opponent cannot Summon another monster with the same name as the target. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 2 "Heraldic Beast" monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard.

The new Heraldic Number.

The first effect seems REALLY conditional, to the point of stupid. It can be useful, obviously, but it's really dependant on the opponent. The second effect, however, is gold for the Deck.

Being able to mill 2 Heraldic Beasts from your Deck is amazing. Half of them want to be in the Graveyard (Aberconway, Leo, Unicorn, Twin-Headed Eagle), and of course, just the idea of Advanced Heraldry Art wants them in the Graveyard. It also seems to get the effect no matter how it was sent, either from the Extra Deck, your Field, or as Xyz Material (Rank-Up Magic), and you can send Heraldics.

It's also generic, and 2200/2200 is decent stats. The first effect is just a bit too meh for my liking, although my Photon Deck is a bit wary of it. At least it's a Quick Effect that could do some fun disruption plays, and the Heraldic mill effect is beautiful.

Also, now all the 10 series Numbers are known. (13 and 14 aren't yet released, but 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, and 19 are, and this is 18, making the 10 series Numbers the first series to have all their members known)

Plus Unicorn only negates the effects on the Field. If you banish Unicorn and revive this, and this dies again, you get to mill 2 more Heraldic Beasts. You can easily pitch Leo and Unicorn, get a search from Leo, and next turn, banish Unicorn and revive this.

Or you can send 2 Aberconway, or a Leo and Twin-Headed Eagle, etc. Lots of possibilities depending on your current Graveyard set-up. It actually helps Aberconway's playability if you're not focusing on the Chain Dog variant, since Aberconway and the new Heraldic (and Eagle) are WIND.

Plus, this thing is generic. So even Kagetokage plays can help you out with early game set-up.

It chomps Scapegoat hard. Zombies who do Double Master, or Vampires double Duke. Dandylion. Frogs (because of Dupe and Ronintoadin's name effect).

It has potential.

I don't think those things are very threatening.

You can use it with a Heraldry Art searched by that new Trap Card and that's about the size of it. The dump is fantastic, the art is fantastic, it works well with Unicorn, and it does nothing with Eagle.

After much testing with the new Heraldics... this is not a fair card at all. Nothing broken, but the pressure it applies to the game isn't fair.

The detach effect came up only once out of testing, but it still is an out to Dracossack (more or less) and degenerate rogue shit like CyDra and Harpies.

The second effect just tells your opponent "Banish me or die", because if they bounce it with Compulse, it still comes back. Being able to mill 2 Beasts at once is stupidly powerful, given you can dump  combination of Eagle, Leo, 1-2 Abercon, and Unicorn and just get free plusses in the long run. It's also when it's sent in any way, so good luck using Number 101 or something silly like Sazank to deal with it.

It's a really good card for the Augment Heraldry turns, because it's the least situational of the 3 Xyz you can make under Augment Heraldry. It's not even a bad card outside of them given how much pressure it puts on the opp while also being beefier, albeit slower, than Lavalval Chain.

It's probably Unicorn's best target, due to 22/22 beatstick that mills when it dies. And in Heraldry, specific milling = winning.

Also Advanced Heraldry Arts is degenerate as shit. That is all.

So, wait... is my understanding that this thing is supposed to represent a black Coat of Arms from the beginning of the family? That seems to be what the name is telling me, but the art has be very confused. Also...

That's exactly what I expected to find out.

That thing around its core with the number on it looks a bit like one of Coat of Arms' arms.  If I had to speculate, I'd say it's Coat of Arms in an early stage.
